* rr123 managed to ssh into it, however serial port still shows garbage, the same ttl-serial used with rpi perfectly fine, it's fdti chip, I do notice http://linux-sunxi.org/UART mentioned nothing about fdti which is odd
<karlp> rr123: properly grounded?
<rr123> believe so, used it for many boards, GND-RX-TX matches GND-TX-RX, I can see garbage out, and I can interact with the console(e.g. hit enter key or move cursor), it's just the chars are messed up
<rr123> karlp: RX-GND is -5V, is this right? TX-GND is 0V, on the ttl-serial
<rr123> no VCC, of course
<rr123> on OPI Zero LTS, RX-GND, TX-GND are both 3.0V

<suprothunderbolt> so I've built a 5.3 kernel and it's giving me Bad Linux ARM64 Image magic!
cnxsoft has quit [Quit: cnxsoft]
<suprothunderbolt> the image is strangely smaller than the other ones but I did disable some drivers I wasn't using (extra panels mostly) but it's now 7.7M compared to the 5.0.7 kernel that was 17M
<suprothunderbolt> the others are called vmlinuz as well but I wonder if this one has compression and the other didn't? I did make bindeb for both. I used the same package script.

<p00pquake> Is there a way to flash a Buster image in FEL mode without LiveSuite ?
jernej has quit [Ping timeout: 252 seconds]
<p00pquake> A20 cubietruck
<KotCzarny> lol
ldevulder_ has quit [Ping timeout: 268 seconds]
<KotCzarny> livesuite is only for broken android images from vendors
<p00pquake> true
<KotCzarny> for everything else there is etcher of fel-boot
<KotCzarny> s/of/or/
<p00pquake> what do you mean by fel-boot ?
<p00pquake> is there an online resource?
<KotCzarny> have you ever been to linux-sunxi wiki?
<KotCzarny> (see topic)
<p00pquake> sure
<KotCzarny> if you really need flashing via usb you can use fel mode
<p00pquake> BUT I cant find anything about flashing an Image to NAND
<KotCzarny> ah, nand
<KotCzarny> first of all, there is no support for nand in linux-sunxi
<KotCzarny> :)
<p00pquake> ok lets start another way maybe
<p00pquake> I found that old cubietruck in my stuff
<p00pquake> its still pretty good compared to other unstable current Hardware
<KotCzarny> just use sdcard and be happy with your life
<p00pquake> AND supported by Armbian (which is my farorite)
<p00pquake> I used a SD card
<KotCzarny> only legacy kernel has some nand support
<KotCzarny> 3.4.x
<p00pquake> SanDisk 64GB U1 A1
<p00pquake> and booted from it
<KotCzarny> for sdcard you can just use pc to write image
<p00pquake> i did
<p00pquake> could see it booting in UART
<p00pquake> until the login prompt
<p00pquake> then unresponsive
jernej has joined #linux-sunxi
<p00pquake> so where to start to make it run?
<p00pquake> shoul/can I update the u-boot ?
<p00pquake> any other firmware ?
<KotCzarny> armbian is good
<KotCzarny> but only thing that needs customizing is uboot/kernel/dt
<KotCzarny> get the latest version maybe?
Da_Coynul has joined #linux-sunxi
<p00pquake> lates version of what?
<p00pquake> armbian ?
<p00pquake> got it from here:
<KotCzarny> then i would suggest perusing armbian forums for support
<KotCzarny> lots of info there
<p00pquake> so but how to update u-boot?
<p00pquake> and dt?

<aep> oh... different bus. my problem is actually not showing up as any error. its just not registering the second device. /sys/bus/spi/devices/spi0.1/of_node/ looks all fine and identical to /sys/bus/spi/devices/spi0.0/of_node/
