<tuxd3v> jernej.. I don't get why you have the stmmac..
<tuxd3v> stmmac if for STMicroelectronics
<tuxd3v> not for Microchip Micrel...
<tuxd3v> the driver could be the same and the name remained..itys the only explanation if correct..
<tuxd3v> zcat /proc/config.gz | grep CONFIG_MICREL_PHY
<karlp> tuxd3v: because stmmac is the mac in allwinne parts... (turns out stmmac is a known historically bad name choice, but so be it, it's a designware IP iirc) micrel were mostly known for phys, not for macs iirc.
<karlp> so this line, PHY [stmmac-0:01] driver [Micrel KSZ9031 Gigabit PHY] is just saying, that port 0:01 on the mac has a micrl ksz phy attached.
<karlp> so... looks pretty aok to me :)

<tuxd3v> But for micrel shouldn't it be:

<tuxd3v> for what it seems it is the same shared driver because it was writen by STMicroelectronics perhaps..

<tuxd3v> sun4i_ss seems to be fine now on Kernel 5.4.6 on A20 :)
<tuxd3v> jernej, I don't have your network controller :(
<tuxd3v> I built 5.4.6, and more or less all is ok
<tuxd3v> have you included Micrel and Microchip drivers at kernel compilation?

<jernej> tuxd3v: I don't have those set currently. I tried once with them, but they didn't help.
<jernej> AFAIK NET_VENDOR options are for MAC drivers, not for PHY
NekoMay has left #linux-sunxi ["Leaving"]
<jernej> anyway, I give up for time being, I have another A20 board which works just fine
<jernej> smaeul: can you link U-Boot patch for U-boot H6 eth driver?

<jernej> besides, dmesg (https://pastebin.com/raw/W3s3YXVe) also confirms that
<plaes> oh..
<plaes> do you have old clock driver enabled?
<plaes> yes you have

<plaes> 5.3.0 works?
<plaes> I have yet to test the newer stuff
<jernej> this one (old clock driver) was also pain to find out
<jernej> I don't know about 5.3, it's not trivial to downgrade kernel in LE
<plaes> yeah.. it's sort of caused by me, because when I ported to CCU I missed the clocks for ethernet :)
<jernej> otherwise, ethernet works fine on other A20 board, just different PHY
<plaes> what revision do you have?
<plaes> I have mostly rev. K
<jernej> I tried to figure that out, but I couldn't find anything on silkscreen
<jernej> it should be latest, but I'm not 100% sure
<plaes> it should be written under "A20 OLinuxino Lime2"
lkcl has quit [Ping timeout: 265 seconds]
<plaes> or one option is to read it out from eeprom
florian has joined #linux-sunxi
<jernej> I can't see anything written under board name
<jernej> I mean, no revision
<plaes> on the other side
<jernej> ah, there :) it's rev. K
<plaes> hmm.. no SPI
<jernej> btw, can you confirm that you have that solder blob near ethernet connector as can be seen on image I linked?
<plaes> there was an issue starting with rev. K where the BROM is unable to initialize emmc so they needed to include SPI eeprom
<plaes> yup, this capacitor has this blob
<jernej> well, that shouldn't have an impact on ethernet, right?
<plaes> nope

<tuxd3v> montjoie, maybe sun4i_ss was ok, before.. I have never succeeded in configuring PRNG correctly... using RNG-tools .. and now out-of-the-box it just work with config CONFIG_CRYPTO_DEV_SUN4I_SS_PRNG=y
<tuxd3v> maybe I missconfigured something , it could be..
<tuxd3v> now at least on 5.4.6 its ok.
<tuxd3v> jernej, I tested 5.4.6 and I have a complete oposite experience than yours..
<jernej> which is?
gediz0x539 has quit [Quit: Leaving]
<tuxd3v> stmmac doesn't know what is the phy attached, on my case but the driver works..
<tuxd3v> ethernet works fine...well I haven't made (yet) badwith tests
<tuxd3v> in Lime2
<jernej> so maybe you're using generic phy driver
<tuxd3v> I believe revision H of the board was wen they changed the phy to Microchip device..
<tuxd3v> yes I suspect that I am
<jernej> I have rev. K, which has Micrel PHY
<jernej> which one do you have?
<tuxd3v> I have the G revision..
<tuxd3v> it should be Realtek, I beliebe
<tuxd3v> but I was waiting for today, to shutdown and open the case, to check..
<tuxd3v> but I really stranged since I have realtek drivers compiled too..
<jernej> I think you should have CONFIG_REALTEK_PHY=y
<tuxd3v> yeah I had it as a module..
<tuxd3v> I put my builder to do another kernel..
<tuxd3v> with config=y
<tuxd3v> does any one experimented the userspace lima driver already?
<tuxd3v> I built it some 1 month ago, but I will only try it now

<jernej> not sure if using generic or dedicated driver changes much for Realtek

<tuxd3v> not sure either..
