<_florent_> rjo: yes for now it's going ok for the jesd stuff, I'm working on a model to be sure to fully understand the spec and use it to test the core
<_florent_> larsc: why is the non scrambling pass a mess on jesd? (I was going to try to use this first to validate everything except scambling)
<larsc> sb0: but even then you still need to connect to those ports to get the 9th and 10th bit
<larsc> _florent_: character replacement with scrambling is straight forward
<larsc> d27.4 gets replaced by k27.4
<larsc> 28.4 sorry
<larsc> with non-scrambiling a eof octet gets replaced if it is identical to the eof octet in the previous frame
<_florent_> larsc: yes (I was working on the model for that yesterday), it does not seems too complicated to implement but maybe I'm missing something
<larsc> it's a bit messy
<_florent_> larsc: ok, then I'll probably test with scrambling first
<larsc> since you need to look at all 4 parallel chars
<larsc> _florent_: http://pastebin.com/9n4KvBWi
<larsc> just as a reference
<_florent_> thanks! I was just going to ask if you were aware of a reference for the scrambler :)
mumptai has joined #m-labs
<_florent_> larsc: just to be sure I understand the spec correctly, what do you mean by "you need to look at all 4 parallel chars"
<_florent_> larsc: is it for each lane?
<_florent_> larsc: or 4 parallel chars of the same lane?
<larsc> 4 chars on the same lane
<larsc> each lane has its own independent scrambler
<_florent_> yes I was aware of that, but now I understand what you mean (the design I was thinking of was a particular case)
<_florent_> larsc: BTW are you aware of some ressources/reference data available somewhere that can be useful to validate a jesd core?
<_florent_> larsc: I'm probably going to use Xilinx's model for that, but if you are aware of others ressources for that that's always good to know.
<sb0> larsc, yes. this was a criticism of the xilinx design.
<larsc> _florent_: sorry, I don't know of any (public) validation procedures
<larsc> but it is more a list of things which were tested
<larsc> not how they were tested
mumptai has quit [Remote host closed the connection]
<_florent_> larsc: thanks, I'll do with it, having a reference for the scrambler is already a good point.
<sb0> mithro, how are the docs coming along?
