<Hadaka>
anyone else think the caml mailing list is terribly unresponsive right now?
<lms>
seems okay for me right now
<lms>
but I'm downloading something (heh, bittorrent) and things are generaly all around laggy
<Hadaka>
well, I haven't received any mails on the list for a while
<lms>
oh, I thought you meant the archive page thingy
<Hadaka>
hmmh, I'll check if my mail is on the archive page
<Hadaka>
"for a while" btw means like 2 days ;)
<Hadaka>
okay, perhaps it's not the ocaml list but some mail server in between I am using
<lms>
I don't usually subscribe to lists, hehe, archives tend to have almost everything ever discussed, and then some
<Hadaka>
it's rather hard to talk to an archive ;) though ofcourse gmane is quite okay for reading the list as well
<lms>
ll3 has probably had the same discussions come up 2 or 3 times over and over again
<Hadaka>
all the actual development mailinglists for ocaml are probably in french and private?

<Hadaka>
hmh? :)
<Maddas>
nothing, nothing :)

twiddles his thumbs vigorously.
<Maddas>
So what are you up to?
<Hadaka>
well, trying to verify some assumptions
<Hadaka>
namely
<Hadaka>
a literal reference in code is immutable, it will never be written to - a module will call setglobal once (per module in the file) during the execution of the toplevel closure, and never again - module will never reference it's own global with getglobal
<Hadaka>
all seem to be true, as much as I can surmise with a brief look
<Maddas>
Possibly :-)
<Hadaka>
that means that the global table entries can be reused immediately when no other 'entry' references them and that entry isn't a "public" entry, as in the head of representation for the module name

Hey, I'm trying to get Tuareg to work in Emacs, and I copied the .el files to my site-lisp, and altered my .emacs appropriately but when i try to start tuareg mode I get an error about not being able to open/find caml-types
<cjohnson>
I get the same error in both XEmacs and GNU Emacs
