<shans_home> so I'm playing around with camlp4. One of the things I want to do is generate classes automatically from templates.
<love-pingoo> some jeremy did that a few weeks ago, to generate classes from a bdd spec
<shans_home> the classes are have a number of parameters based on values in the input file
<love-pingoo> actually, he probably didn't use camlp4
<shans_home> so for example if I put in "togra_stream in 2 out 3"
<shans_home> I want something like "class ['a, 'b, 'c, 'd, 'e] tograOperation_2I_3O = object .... end"
<shans_home> I just got it working :)
<shans_home> except I had to pattern-match and edit the AST directly rather than using quotations
<shans_home> I was wondering if there was an easier way (I couldn't find a $list:...$ antiquotation recipe that worked)
<love-pingoo> I messed a bit with camlp4, but I probably won't go back to it before the new clean version
<shans_home> yeah, looking forward to that!

<dark_light> using a buffer to convert a char list into a string is a good way to do this? http://nopaste.tshw.de/1161123040ec201/
<pango> you can even write List.iter (Buffer.add_char buf) list, since you like partial application :)
dibblego has joined #ocaml
<pango> the only drawback I see with this method is that data (characters) are copied twice; once from the list to the Buffer, and once from the Buffer to the returned string
<pango> but I haven't checked whether it's faster or slower than looking at the List length (O(n)) to get the string size right from the beginning
<dark_light> Hmm. building a string from scratch and filling it is very ugly anyway
* pango nods
<pango> I like this solution with Buffers too

<dark_light> i am modeling channel modes this way: http://nopaste.tshw.de/1161124168ec201 , and my channel mode method is here: http://nopaste.tshw.de/1161124224ec201 . maybe exageratted, but the op method is only method op channel person = self#chmode channel [Op person]
<dark_light> things become very fun when works:)
<dark_light> (for someone reading the code.. the Lib.mkstring function is that string_of_char_list.. and the rawl method justs sends a list to the server, concatening with String.concat " ")

<dark_light> i don't know o.o o.o with a foreing, i think yes, but there are police and police.. u.u the militar police sometimes beats people at student's manifestation, and this kind of thing :P

<Payo543> dark_light, students manifestation ?
<dark_light> Payo543, well, yes, there are some, for things like minor bus passage
<Payo543> what is student manifestaion ??????/
<dark_light> ah
<Payo543> so are the police good or bad in rio de janerio ?
<dark_light> well, students going to streets protesting
<Payo543> ooooooooo
<Payo543> i dont protest ;)
<dark_light> Payo543, i don't know, but i think the police you will handle is almost good
<dark_light> oh yes :)
<dark_light> Payo543, ah, just a tip: watching soccer can be dangerous if you don't know where to stay, there are sometime fights (and the police sometimes beats the watchers :P)
<Payo543> wtf why ?
<dark_light> it's like england i think
<Payo543> why is watching a sport dangerous ?
<dark_light> Payo543, i am not finding the word.. there are like, well, gangs that go to watching soccer just to fight..
<Payo543> on tv or in real life ?
<dark_light> "gang" isn't really the word to describe, but i don't live in rio and it's only for some main games (here in natal there aren't so much of this)
<Payo543> a riot ?
<dark_light> Payo543, real life, but i see only in tv, i may be exaggerating :)
<Payo543> peopel go crazy
<Payo543> and start destrying buildings
<Payo543> and cars
<dark_light> well no
<dark_light> just fight with the other "gang" and with the police
<Payo543> yes
<Payo543> happens here too
<Payo543> usually police dont go to far
<Payo543> spray tear gas
<Payo543> and if they start hitting police
<Payo543> the police will pull out thier stick and knock them to the ground
<dark_light> Payo543, here the police starts knocking :(
<Payo543> knocking ?
<dark_light> "the police will pull out thier stick and knock them to the ground" -> it's what happens here
<Payo543> that happens here too
<Payo543> but usually only thugs
<Payo543> and gangsters
<Payo543> not normal people
<dark_light> well i can't say if it's normal people, :o
<Payo543> dark_light, so what are you saying ?
<Payo543> dark_light, i will be beat by the police for walking down the street
<dark_light> no
<Payo543> lol
<Payo543> dark_light, i was reading the police just kill people in rio de janerio
<Payo543> torutre and just kill them
<dark_light> Payo543, poor people, yes
<Payo543> crinimals ?
<Payo543> drug people ?
<dark_light> Payo543, some are, some aren't
<Payo543> why would they just kill a poor person
<Payo543> ?
<dark_light> at 'favelas', they may enter shooting.. it's what i see on tv :P
<Payo543> no im talking about the police capturing someone and just killing them
<dark_light> Payo543, that places are commanded by criminals, so they treats all people as criminals too
<dark_light> well capturing? maybe not very common
<Payo543> dark_light, if i lived in favela i would make it my first goal to get out of there
<dark_light> Payo543, but there are no place to go..
<Payo543> dark_light, i would find a place :)
<dark_light> you would be lucky if could study at least 11 years :(
<Payo543> dark_light, huh ?
<Payo543> dark_light, well we have MANY ghetto's here and something called "projects" they are dangerous and very poor but alot of people get the hell of out of there
<dark_light> Payo543, working hard since child, is what those people gets.. and there always the crime path..
<Payo543> crime path willl get you killed
<dark_light> Payo543, and very fast
<dark_light> at least at rio :(
<Payo543> yea wellll i dont know
* Payo543 reminds himself to stay out of favela
<dark_light> Payo543, you surely will learn what places is safe:)
