What do I do when I have two modules that have exactly the same name but I want to include one in one place and another in another?
<seafood_>
My problem is that I'm getting the following error: The files /Users/sseefried/code/goanna_files/strat_imp/strat_imp/StratImp/env.cmi
<seafood_>
and /usr/local/lib/ocaml/num.cmi make inconsistent assumptions

hi, is there anyone who have writen a tree_model class (LablGTK) in ocaml and could give me some pointers?

oscarh: I haven't, but I'm curious what you need a new one for

tsuyoshi, hmm, maybee i'm on the wrong track, but i'm used to write my own tree models in other graphical libraries... and what i would like to do is to make one of my model classes a tree model.
<oscarh>
but maybee i should rather inherit from a three model to add the functionality i need
pango has quit [Remote closed the connection]
_velco is now known as velco
<tsuyoshi>
I tried to do my own tree model before but it always ended up being more trouble than it was worth
<tsuyoshi>
since I mostly just wanted to skip copying from one data structure into the gtk tree model and there was never much to copy anyway
<oscarh>
tsuyoshi, yeah, that
<oscarh>
's pretty much what i want to do
<oscarh>
i want to have a model that can hold more data than it displays
<oscarh>
but there isn't any information on how to do it in lablgtk, and the iters and such that do exist are actually C structs, so i dont know if it's even possible
<tsuyoshi>
hold more data than it displays? hmm
<tsuyoshi>
that would be more of a view issue rather than a model issue I think
<oscarh>
in a way yes, but i think it'll be hard to rewrite the threeview
<tsuyoshi>
if you hide the expanders and then expand stuff on your own that might work
<oscarh>
hmm, not in that way
<oscarh>
i have a tree of objects in my ocaml library, but ever object has a lot of information that should not be printed in the tree
<oscarh>
so, i want to show every object, but just some of it's data
<tsuyoshi>
ohh
<oscarh>
without copying it :)
<tsuyoshi>
that's a renderer issue
<tsuyoshi>
well.. aside from the copying
<oscarh>
ah, that's true
<oscarh>
so is it easy to write your own renderer?
<oscarh>
in that case i could just skip the first tree and base it on a tree store
<tsuyoshi>
I think so.. there's only really 2 methods you need to write
<tsuyoshi>
gtk_cell_renderer_get_size and gtk_cell_renderer_render
<tsuyoshi>
if it's just text that's in the objects you don't even need to do that
<oscarh>
in the first case yes
<oscarh>
hmm
<oscarh>
not case
<oscarh>
but in the first implementation :)
<tsuyoshi>
you can have columns that aren't shown
<tsuyoshi>
I always do that actually.. when a row is activated I need more information than is in the visible columns
<oscarh>
but the objects i want to show in the tree are records
<tsuyoshi>
and I retrieve the information from the nonvisible columns.. and you can store anything in them
<oscarh>
so if i'd want to do this easy for myself, i could just put the record in a non-visible column and copy the text of what i want to display to a visible one
