alyssa changed the topic of #panfrost to: Panfrost - FLOSS Mali Midgard & Bifrost - Logs https://freenode.irclog.whitequark.org/panfrost - <daniels> avoiding X is a huge feature
<TheCycoONE> \o/ alyssa - use to play neverball like that on a thinkpad when the accelerometer was an input device.
<TheCycoONE> Will be nice with the kevin

<mrfixit2001> Interesting update... I tried an older commit (ae4ccb67be29b9bca5c3ba8e5ed175901e1645b6)... kmscube crashes... but... retroarch ACTUALLY DISPLAYS :) So something that's changed between that commit and now is causing the blank render screen
<mrfixit2001> retroarch doesn't actually allow me to do anything at all, but it's main interface is actually visible on the screen. Even though it's not animated. But it's better than a blank screen haha
<mrfixit2001> for what it's worth... the log for retroarch and kmscube make it look like it's initializing the surface twice?

<alyssa> Blop, 2 month ibsection will not be fun
<alyssa> ezequielg: :p
<alyssa> TheCycoONE: It was a uh
<alyssa> mostly joke implementation
<alyssa> I'm sure there's a proper way to hook it up to SDL but I don't know, that code was the product of "how fast can we hack something together"
<alyssa> After hours xdc :p
<TheCycoONE> I looked and didn't come up with anything now that they're iio based - considered a hack like that but didn't write it; so I'm glad you did, even if it is quick and dirty. (Patch didn't apply cleanly on latest git, but it was an easy fix)
<alyssa> TheCycoONE: \o/
<alyssa> The fact I did it off a debian version instead of git says a lot about the hackiness
<alyssa> It was literally a case of "how fast can we throw this together"
<TheCycoONE> I for one appreciate it. Off now though; enjoy!
<alyssa> TheCycoONE: Have fun! :p
<alyssa> If anyone wants to figure out how to do accelerometers in SDL (like on android) on mainline, that'd be neat and a better solution but for now.. :)

<narmstrong> Yardanico: haven’t tried but you’ll need to run X with modesetting xorg driver and panfrost should expose OpenGL and OpenGL2 for X to load
<narmstrong> Yardanico: but before just try kmscube to see if the Mesa version you’re using is working
raster has joined #panfrost
<Yardanico> narmstrong: kmscube fails as well - "failed to initialize" and then "failed to initialize EGL"
<paulk-leonov> TheCycoONE: there's this to bridge iio accel to input actually https://patchwork.kernel.org/patch/10858551/
<paulk-leonov> but looks like it didn't make it
<ezequielg> paulk-leonov: It seems someone pointed out that it should be moved to userspace, via uinput.
<ezequielg> I had no idea about uinput until now ^_^
<paulk-leonov> ezequielg: yeah I actually thought about uinput yesterday :)
<paulk-leonov> it's pretty cool
<ezequielg> that would be a fun project.
<paulk-leonov> and probably not that much effort to pull it out
<ezequielg> tell you what: let's organize a hackaton somewhere and then we can find time to do all this sort of fun stuff.
<paulk-leonov> \o/
<paulk-leonov> maybe I'll bring a kevin to elce then :p

<sphalerite> So I've built panfrost… how do I run stuff on it?

<alyssa> sphalerite: It's a driver ... install it and your GL apps should just work :)
<sphalerite> well… they don't :p
<sphalerite> I'm probably doing things wrong though
<alyssa> kmscube
<sphalerite> while installing kmscube, "no space left on device"… whoop whoop
<sphalerite> aww, it's still using llvmpipe
<alyssa> Did you install panfrost?
<sphalerite> for some definition of "install", yes
<sphalerite> unfortunately for this case, I'm not on a classical FHS distro
<ezequielg> sphalerite: where did you "install" it?
<sphalerite> in the nix store. I'm trying to get it picked up via LD_LIBRARY_PATH for now
<sphalerite> but that doesn't seem to be working so far
<sphalerite> I just need to read up on how nixos handles graphics drivers nowadays, it's changed recentl
<ezequielg> hm wonder what all that means.
<ezequielg> LD_DEBUG=files should tell you what kmscube is trying to do
