Hello all :) I've been able to successfully get panfrost booted and working with a 32-bit userspace and 64-bit kernel. SOME applications work perfectly, such as kmscube. But others have terribly distorted graphics. And others crash.
<mrfixit2001>
So it's getting closer :)
<mrfixit2001>
The latest error I receive when trying to run a fairly demanding emulator is: DRM_IOCTL_PANFROST_CREATE_BO failed: Cannot allocate memory
<mrfixit2001>
I would expect this is because you'll need to use a different memory allocation with a 32-bit userspace.
<mrfixit2001>
Here is a dmessage error that also occurs so that you can further investigate: https://pastebin.com/QzzdDJN1

very exciting to see it this close!

hopefully someone responds, I'll check the chat log in the morning :)

Good morning! Nobody replied :( haha but I have discovered that the issue of a distorted display was due to trying to set a low resolution. Probably want to address this at some point, but this is what 800x600 resolution looks like: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1z7gg9hZkDSf2-442VgyFblvcwiM0AZTc

So a lot of things are running... but here's the current state of how the nintendo 64 emulator is playing.... basically it renders the background but none of the foreground, so mario is missing (for example). https://drive.google.com/open?id=1xLFaep31i1ibul6noQhDNjjUvRT9Z2ca

mrfixit2001: This WARN is when we're trying to allocate the BO and pin all the pages in memory, so failure is a possibility. Do you have swap enabled on your system? That may help. Are you seeing OOM messages?
<robher>
There could be a BO leak as well.

robher I have swap enabled in the kernel but it's not confused for use. A good handful of emulators crash and won't run. But using the retroarch cores they mostly do, it's really gave me a good idea of how far this project has come and how the performance measures up against the mali blobs.
<mrfixit2001>
I'll try it again at a later date in the future and hopefully all of the crashes will have been ironed out.

mrfixit2001: if you're using 32-bit userspace with 64-bit kernel it can be the issue
<anarsoul>
I'm not sure if anyone tests this setup
