<chewitt> I haven't seen issues on S912 .. but running 5.7-rc2 noot 5.5
<chewitt> s/noot/not <= f**king apple butterfly keyboard
<chewitt> needs to be replaced but can't visit the apple service centre due to covid, so am living in typo hell right now :(
<HdkR> External keyboard time?
<Cruft> Thinkpad time
<chewitt> not quite ready for an external keyboard
<chewitt> and i'm not desperate enough to go back to windows (linux isn't an option for work things)
<HdkR> Oh, you use MacOS for work? How interesting
<chewitt> I can use Windows or macOS .. up to me
<chewitt> I've been using a Mac on/off since 1986 so it's an ingrained habbit
<chewitt> If I was desk-bound I'd make an effort to go Linux full time
<chewitt> but until recently I spent an insane amount of time on planes, and Linux just isn't quite as liveable-with for my use cases
<chewitt> not specific to planes, but very frequent travel and such
<HdkR> Very neat
<HdkR> Never talked with someone that actually used MacOS for work :P

<daniels> you ... haven't?
<HdkR> Hm, at least I wasn't aware of them using macos for work...
<HdkR> My SO might want a Mac Pro but it's a show stopper that MacOS doesn't support 8k panels
<HdkR> And we're looking forward to Zen3 anyway, That 28core thing in the Mac Pro is laughable :P

<Cruft> 8k panels? Radiology?
<HdkR> High resolution life :)

<daniels> Adobe products are still a total mess with HiDPI and tablets under WIn10
<HdkR> huh, haven't noticed it with Photoshop
<HdkR> Which is what my SO uses primarily
Cruft has quit [Ping timeout: 256 seconds]
<daniels> people I used to work with switched over to WIn10 for Cinema4D with NVIDIA cards; I can't remember how Photoshop was on their 5K displays, but at least Illustrator was totally unusable, with part of the display cut off and the tablet input completely incoherent, both according to the scaling factor
<HdkR> Interesting
<daniels> IIRC Edge worked fine with tablet input, but Chromium only accepted it on the window decoration and not in the actual browser UI

<robmur01_> mmind00: not specifically... but what could possibly go wrong? :D
<urjaman> lol. i mean i do have an almost-spare 2GB C201 ... but like i've got no tools or experience in bga rework so... not happening in a while

<alyssa> Cruft: "panfrost compatible chromebook device prices skyrocketing" even after normalizing wih $pandemic?
<alyssa> (Also is it specifically panfrost or just older chromebooks?)
<Cruft> rk3399 mostly
<alyssa> hm, ok
<Cruft> i stumbled upon it will looking for screen upgrades to my c101pa
<alyssa> Is that... good or bad? :p
<Cruft> Indifferent, other than it may increase the cost of parts later or interested parties in rk3399 cb customization
<Cruft> But that is pure speculation on my part
<alyssa> HdkR: You're right, we'll just need to port panfrost to more chromebooks :3
<alyssa> tomeu: Could you see what hierarchy masks are used on G31 with a lot of geometry? like we did with t720
<alyssa> thanks :)

<kaichi> Cruft: are they still making any rk3399 devices? Could just be a lack of supply
<kaichi> rk3399 chromebooks*
<Cruft> They are. The Scarlet tablets are cheaper than the C101PA and Samsung Plus v1 though, used or new
<Cruft> like not even a dent in MSRP
<Cruft> That's how I found out, i'm trying to see if the 9.7" would work in the 10.1" C101PA area
<kaichi> c101 has a large bezel so it could be deceivingly large
<Cruft> right, i'm looking at measurements now trying to figure it out and or if the screen itself comes apart from the digi
<kaichi> its form factor is similar to the c100, of which there are more teardown guides/videos
<Cruft> i meant the scarlet tabs
<kaichi> oh right, well I wouldn't bet on the digitiser being separate
