<Regenaxer> Hi beneroth

<Regenaxer> Haha, rick42, cool term “caveman optimization”
<Regenaxer> and the whole text is an excellent explanation!
<Regenaxer> I like the lines aka "Uses: de, list, diff, append"
<beneroth> what, where?
<Regenaxer> Rick wrote an article, I assume I can tell here
<Regenaxer> Not published yet, so pssss
<beneroth> ok... *pssst*
<beneroth> Will enjoy reading it
<beneroth> but gotta go now :/
<beneroth> see you around!
<beneroth> bbl
<beneroth> have a nice afternoon
<Regenaxer> you too!

<Regenaxer> rick42, I've checked all. Looks very good
<Regenaxer> BTW, I like your patient way of explaining things
<Nistur> aha, I was talking to my brother about this (and other similar) problems at the weekend

<rick42> hi pil peeps!
<rick42> Nistur, neat coincidence! :D
<rick42> thanks, Regenaxer, for the review!
<Regenaxer> Hi rick42, Nistur!
<rick42> the article was not written for the experienced programmer obviously, but as you surmised, for the less experienced, maybe new to picolisp, lover of puzzles :), etc., but there is something to be had for the experienced programmer too; maybe: (i) seeing a different way of looking at / tackling a problem, (ii) seeing a different application language (which is why I think devices such as the "Uses:" links help the exp
<rick42> erienced as well as the not-so).
<Regenaxer> yes, perfect
<rick42> there is also an economic consideration that I didn't get into: when a professional has to decide how to spend limited resources (usually time) to build something for a client.
<rick42> the question is often: do you "go all out" and spend the time to develop the most general and sophisticated method possible, or is it better to spend less time and tackle a /particular/ problem?
<rick42> The latter choice also allows you to spiral, if the client ask you for more, and i have found that the short time spent on the toy/particular problem also helps to inform the more general method that would be devleoped (if called for).
<rick42> usually, I find that the answer the latter.
<rick42> hence, the time spent on the toy is NOT wasted.
<rick42> and all these observations from a little puzzle! ha! :)
<Regenaxer> ☺
<rick42> Regenaxer: i was going to s/Uses:/RTFM:/g, but decided not to. lol :D
<Regenaxer> haha ;)
<rick42> Regenaxer: what happened with the crashes from yesterday? Are you and tankf33der still on it?
<Regenaxer> Not at the moment. I'm on a business trip. But thi *must* be investigated
<rick42> ok. all the best!
<Regenaxer> Thanks!
<Regenaxer> It is a very mysterious bug
<rick42> T
<beneroth> back
<beneroth> have a good and safe trip, Regenaxer !
<beneroth> you rick42 buddy o/
<rick42> \o
<Regenaxer> thx beneroth
<beneroth> s/you/yo xD
<rick42> oh yes, safe travels, Regenaxer!
<rick42> :)
<rick42> beneroth: wassup m8?
<beneroth> :)
<rick42> btw i read the message on the ML about "u.s. software". can't say i disagree :)
<rick42> bloat is terrible
<rick42> i think OP was alarmed at "the future is dark"
<beneroth> yeah first I only read the subject and though "ah is someone opening that can again.. noez..." but no, it follows the law of click-bait question headers (the answer is always no)
<rick42> hahaha T
