<larsc> if no one steps up to fix MIPS problems
<larsc> viric: there is your chance ;)
<viric> me? debian? no, thank you :)
<viric> where are the problems, though? In what software?
<larsc> Just in general
<viric> I guess it's more the lack of users/developers than the problems. All have problems.
<kristianpaul> mess? or porting issues?
<larsc> The Debian process requires someone who is going to take care of issue if they arise
<larsc> E.g. if a package doesn't compile anymore on MIPS after a compiler upgrade
<larsc> Cause the whole compiler upgrade is going to be blocked until the issue is resolved
<viric> ok, lack of responsible at the debian organisation
<viric> no surprise.
<viric> I can only say that, on the FOSS world, I'm very positively impressed how they managed to gather responsible people
<kristianpaul> lack of use i bet, how many serious services stand on mips?
<kristianpaul> i meant for debian infraestructure
<larsc> The internet
<larsc> ;)
<larsc> but probably not running debian
<viric> :)
<viric> yes, there are tons of routers/switches
<viric> mips.
<kristianpaul> larsc: indeed /not running/

<GNUtoo-x60> hi,
<GNUtoo-x60> I'm looking again at the milkymist status after all theses years,
<GNUtoo-x60> I saw there is a new version of the hadware in early bringup,
<GNUtoo-x60> I wondered the current status of the "software" on the milkymist, and what was the differences between the milkymist and the mixxeo
<GNUtoo-x60> I've downloaded some sources,
<GNUtoo-x60> I've looked at the milkymist-ng repository,
<GNUtoo-x60> the README says that migen is a dependecy
<GNUtoo-x60> I heard that migen generate code like VHDL(maybe not VHDL but some code in VHDL or similar languages),
<GNUtoo-x60> I've looked a bit more in milkymist-ng repository,
<GNUtoo-x60> it's strnage: I can't find any dependency on fpga vendor tools,
<GNUtoo-x60> is that problem fixed?
<GNUtoo-x60> by vendor tools I meant non-free syntetizer
<GNUtoo-x60> I've also looked at arch/*l*
<GNUtoo-x60> in the mainline linux kenrel
<GNUtoo-x60> I found no lattice32 or directory that looked like that
<GNUtoo-x60> I'll look in the kenrel sources from the milkymist project for that...
<GNUtoo-x60> btw the http://sharism.cc/ website seem down
<GNUtoo-x60> ha, maybe it's the wrong channel,
<GNUtoo-x60> they say to use #milkymist in the README of the git
<DocScrutinizer05> latest madness: Neo900 goes FreeCalypso modem option ;-P

<DocScrutinizer05> roh: N900 refurbished: ~100 EUR
<DocScrutinizer05> so we hardly can get any worse than those 100 bucks, for all the missing case_et_al parts to build a complete phone around a GTA04-NeoN
<roh> nice
<DocScrutinizer05> of course that assumes we can reuse parts like domesheet that are marked "Do NOT reuse! Dispose and get new part", in N900 service manual L1_2
<DocScrutinizer05> and I got a mail today that offers substantial 4 digit donations for accomplishing the protoboard development and building. Let's see if deeds will be louder than words here, in the positive sense

<wpwrak> that calypso has more lives than a bag of cats ;-)
<DocScrutinizer05> indeed
<DocScrutinizer05> not that I like this fact
<DocScrutinizer05> ;-)
<DocScrutinizer05> I'd rather forget it ever existed
<DocScrutinizer05> but that guy came up with the idea to build a FC-modem and place it onto GTA04-NeoN, to get a *really* free phone
<DocScrutinizer05> I doubt I will ever consider actually building the modems, for sure not the prototypes. But if they exist eventually, we should make sure they will fit in Neo900
