<arnebrasseur> hi everyone
<arnebrasseur> I'm looking at devtools and yardstick, I'd like to list some exclusions in yardtick.yml, but devtools isn't passing them on
<arnebrasseur> I'd like to prepare a PR, but not sure about the "right" way to go about it
<arnebrasseur> anyone around to pass some ideas around?
<mbj> arnebrasseur: hi
<mbj> arnebrasseur: does yardstick support those exclusions via its yardstick.yml
<mbj> arnebrasseur: Afaik devtools doesnt do much more than running the yardstick rake task, it does not parse yardstick.yml for itself (for other tools devtools does more setup!)

<arnebrasseur> yeah so Yardstick definitely supports it, it's just not getting passed on
<arnebrasseur> I have a patch ready, let me paste a link here and then we can discuss if it should be better

<mbj> arnebrasseur: so my assumptoion devtools does not do any setup for yardstick was wrong.
<arnebrasseur> yes, it does do some setup

<mbj> arnebrasseur: I'll look into it later, busy again :D
<mbj> arnebrasseur: And thx!
<snusnu> arnebrasseur: i commented on GH
<snusnu> arnebrasseur: also thx! will be very nice to have this supported in devtools!
<snusnu> bbiab
<arnebrasseur> ah great
<arnebrasseur> devtools does not depend on/load IceNine at the moment
<arnebrasseur> should I add it? or just do a shallow freeze?
<arnebrasseur> ping snusnu (IRC n00b alert)
<snusnu> arnebrasseur: heh, just do a shallow freeze … iirc we decided some time ago that devtools should have no (or minimal) dependencies
<arnebrasseur> ok

<arnebrasseur> Awesome!
<arnebrasseur> Then I can push my doc changes to https://github.com/plexus/hexp :D
<arnebrasseur> (shameless plug)
<arnebrasseur> very happy to be using devtools!
<snusnu> arnebrasseur: heh, that hexp project looks interesting! does mbj know about it? ;)
<snusnu> arnebrasseur: just askin', as he's our AST dude so to say hehe
<arnebrasseur> yeah, he should've seen my Eurucamp talk
<arnebrasseur> we tried to meet up but it didn't work out in the end
<arnebrasseur> I stil need to figure out how to add mutant to hexp
<snusnu> ah ok, well that's how it goes, i'm afraid to say that i should've seen your talk too, as i was at eurucamp, but yeah, i haven't seen that many talks ...
<arnebrasseur> it's ok :) I asked for an early slot but it turned out a lot of people had yet to wake up/get to the venue
<arnebrasseur> but I'll continue pushing the idea, so hopefully you'll hear about it from other sides at some point
<snusnu> hah, i was just about to say that me missing it was probably related to my fuckedup sleeping schedule :p
<snusnu> awesome!
<arnebrasseur> also on my todo list is adding Rom gateways to https://github.com/plexus/analects
<arnebrasseur> full of anticipation about Rom over here!
<snusnu> nice! ah, so you're trying to use rom to query those chinese datasets?
<arnebrasseur> yes, I'd like things transparent, so you can use them from the flat files they're distributed in, or load things in a DB and use'm from there
<arnebrasseur> with the same query API
<arnebrasseur> been waiting for ROM to grow up so I can continue working on this project
<snusnu> yeah, rom should help you with that … do you need to write to those datasets too?
<arnebrasseur> no, all read only
<snusnu> sweet, than you should be all set already
<arnebrasseur> so it seems that should already be quite doable
<snusnu> well, apart form the gateways you mentioned ;)
<arnebrasseur> yeah but solnics blog post made it seem easy enough :) will have a go at it and see what happens
<snusnu> yeah, it shouldn't be too hard .. also, obviously, just ask in here, feel free to ping me directly if no one answers and i'm around
<snusnu> we really appreciate any kind of feedback we can get!
<arnebrasseur> most of these data sets are distributed as one-line-per-record in columns so might even turn out to be a generic gateway
<arnebrasseur> will keep you posted in any case!
<arnebrasseur> I'm off, have a nice weekend
<snusnu> thx, you too!
<snusnu> arnebrasseur: btw, do you use whitequark/ast for hexp?
