<hsbt>
hi
<hone>
did zzak talk to you about hosting git+svn snapshots?
<zzak>
not yet
<hone>
zzak said git+svn was an option for committing to ruby, but it took me 3+ days to do fresh clone :(
<hone>
i'm wondering if we can setup tarballs
<hone>
then you can just do git+svn fetch
<hone>
well, I haven't tested it across users, but I'll try to do that with zzak tomorrow
<zzak>
hsbt: do you think we can setup an official mirror?
<zzak>
hsbt: also, could we get ftp access?
<hone>
but the idea is that you'd download the tarball and then run a command to fetch the diff instead having to fetch everything and having git+svn map svn revisions to git shas
<hsbt>
hone: I'll prepare to provide svn snapshots to you. git-svn is very slow too in japan at first :(
<hone>
hsbt: i think it's a cpu vs network problem
<hone>
it has to map all the git shas with svn revisions and it's just slow :(
<hone>
but I figure we could setup a script to easily do it
<hsbt>
zzak: I think we shouldn't setup another mirror of svn, because we shouldn't to reduce time and resource for subversion problem.
<hone>
hsbt: how often do you do svn snapshots?
<hsbt>
s/reduce/spent
<zzak>
hsbt: i agree, it would be great to just use git.. but seems like a quick workaround instead of total git migration
