...resource management is one of those areas where Haskell-the-language in theory should be decent to good at (GHC 9 will even have linear types), but in practice all of the libraries are half-baked.

half-baked is also perahps not fair; resourcet, safe-exceptions and async are all actually pretty solid, just not quite as general as I'm wanting right now. Move semantics is in Haskell is pretty niche.
