<azonenberg> whitequark: so i think you're not using the ADC correctly
<azonenberg> it looks like the ADC on the greenpak devkit has a range of 0 to 1V
<azonenberg> and saturates to 1V at anything beyond that
<azonenberg> It's not referenced to Vdd
<cr1901_modern> that's not a very useful range without using a divider/impedance transformer
<openfpga-github> [openfpga] azonenberg pushed 2 new commits to master: https://git.io/vPN4C
<openfpga-github> openfpga/master 22a6c28 Andrew Zonenberg: greenpak4: Fixed bug where vector top-level ports parsed LOC constraints in the wrong order
<openfpga-github> openfpga/master 962be93 Andrew Zonenberg: greenpak4: Initial implementation of SLG46140V can now build a "hello world" bitstream. Fixes #50.
<azonenberg> or... maybe i'm derping
<azonenberg> it might be vdd, i need to check something now :p

rvense_ is now known as rvense
<Lord_Nightmare> rqou: that's one manufacturer of probably 5-230 different ones with the same problem
<Lord_Nightmare> if youre making an IOT device the admin password should be set in a random, device specific manner and match a sticker on the device itself
<Lord_Nightmare> from factory
<Lord_Nightmare> i know both comcast and verizon do this for their fios routers
<Lord_Nightmare> and cable modems in comcasts cas

<rqou> Comcast definitely doesn't
<rqou> Arris modems that Comcast uses have a nice backdoor
<azonenberg_work> yeah i think they do this on the consumer wifi devices
<azonenberg_work> but not the cable modem admin panel

<rqou> i don't know why you would ever use an isp-provided wifi device if you aren't required to
<rqou> at least fortunately the arris backdoor afaik is only accessible from the lan and hfc management channel thing and not from the entire internet
<rqou> aaaand how did I miss the news about CVE-2016-5195 (Dirty COW)?
<rqou> software is hard
<azonenberg_work> rqou: yeah my comcast modem has wifi but i turned it off
<azonenberg_work> (twice, since it came back on magically once)
<azonenberg_work> i have wifi for guests etc on a DMZ vlan firewalled off from everything i care about
<rqou> can't you use your own docsis modem that isn't owned by comcast?
<rqou> (you can do this on the resi plans)
<azonenberg_work> no idea, i havent had tooooo many issues with the modem itself
<azonenberg_work> more with the upstream
<rqou> my parents switched to an owned modem when comcast rolled out docsis 3.0
<rqou> the rented modem didn't support that
<rqou> meanwhile at&t u-verse is famous for having a really shitty cpe box
<azonenberg_work> i'm using a custom modem for my parents dsl
<azonenberg_work> cisco 2600 series router... 2620?
<azonenberg_work> ancient, but works
<rqou> afaik u-verse doesn't allow that
<azonenberg_work> and a WIC-1ADSL
<rqou> someone a few days ago mentioned that u-verse is vdsl
<rqou> not adsl
<rqou> why does linux still have difficulty dd'ing to a slow device?
<rqou> (it dumps everything into memory cache instantly and then hangs for a bajillion years actually writing the data)
