<protosphere> I think Vibra 16 has the CQM OPL3 clone cr1901_modern
<protosphere> Though some have actual OPL3s
<ej5> cr1901_modern, M.C. Adlib?
<cr1901_modern> protosphere: Thanks
<ej5> no i meant is the M.C.Adlib a good name for the MCA Ad Lib?
<cr1901_modern> I'm not a fan, if I'm perfectly honest
<ej5> it's just a working title. it's hard to come up with good names.
<cr1901_modern> Oh I'm sure :). And it's just my opinion. It's not like I'm the arbiter of good taste
<ej5> oh did i mention that i figured out why the card won't work in the german guy's ps/2 model 80?
<cr1901_modern> No... why :o?
<ej5> it uses 74ls logic and the model 80 has a 100ns cmd low time
<ej5> it's not quite enough for the signal to propagate all the way through to latching the ID on the bus!
<cr1901_modern> uh oh... :(
<ej5> they should have used F series logic, or something similar. and they should have added a wait state for the ym3812
<cr1901_modern> well today you can get 5ns/3ns ACT as buffers :)
<ej5> the card ought to work in my model 50, however.
<cr1901_modern> I saw someone set up an MCA Sound Blaster (or Aztech card? Idk) on a vid a few months ago in Windows 3.1
<cr1901_modern> for some strange reason he couldn't get the correct sounds to play, which made Sim City and Canyon.mid sound hilarious
<cr1901_modern> but it's like "MCA couldn't have been worth the hassle, was it?"
<cr1901_modern> Apparently this was a lucky break for the video poster... he was notified by a friend
<cr1901_modern> (this is the only reason I have an ST-506... a friend was nice enough to forward me the listing instead of buying it)
<cr1901_modern> ... wait, this isn't a Sound Blaster...
<cr1901_modern> it's an M-ACPA card
<cr1901_modern> ... the hell is that?!
<ej5> hmmm
<cr1901_modern> Maybe IBM's attempt to set a sound card standard?
<cr1901_modern> "Card only runs on Windows 3.1"
<cr1901_modern> according to linked vid

<ej5> i hate this video. all the interesting stuff is blurry
<cr1901_modern> :(
<ej5> the mca bus interface chip has a TI logo but i can't see anything else
<cr1901_modern> ahhh I see
<cr1901_modern> I watch this channel's videos to relax. It's weird, but seeing computers being set up can relax me
<ej5> oh it's a DSP
<cr1901_modern> tms320-whatever?

<ej5> hey cr1901_modern: https://cl.ly/05caf40bd9e9
<cr1901_modern> I approve immensely :D
<ej5> or anyone else that wants a preview lol
<cr1901_modern> IBM's Bracket Racket
<ej5> the whole thing was a racket
<cr1901_modern> No kidding :P
<cr1901_modern> what's the BFC for?
<ej5> got to come up with a funny name for the volume control
<cr1901_modern> (C26)
<ej5> it's just a coupling cap in the audio path
<ej5> hmm. volume control: "keep it down, kids!"
<ej5> too bad plaid bib is basically unsearchable lol
<cr1901_modern> There's still timee to change the name. I just said I prefer it :P.
<cr1901_modern> And I LOVE the logo
<ej5> yeah that turned out pretty good
<ej5> ehh, think i'll run with it
<cr1901_modern> blaaargh side effects are gonna keep me up for a while I think
<cr1901_modern> I had _just_ woken back up when you posted that image
<cr1901_modern> And actually I just made progress on some client work in that 30 mins

<ValleyBell> andlabs: You could use 2x2op sounds, but I doubt that Space Harrier is using that. I guess you can only make WAV logs with all but 1 channel muted to figure it out.
<ValleyBell> or maybe use Multidumper, though I'm not sure if it supports YM2203 and SegaPCM
