<rz2k>
I dont know what to expect: support of this project or hundreds of noobs flooding the wiki and this channel.

I can't believe he got that for re-org the mk802 and that a10 tab
<Mehhh>
Good move though, smart business move.

Hello to all. I'm trying to install custom kernel on a Allwinner A13 tablet pc and I have a problem with capacitive tp driver so I wanted to ask someone for help. Thank you in advance.
<rz2k>
if you can make a patch from your kernel with support for this touchscreen - we can add it.
<rastkok>
I've found ili210x in some amazon kindle kernel repo.

My question is, do i need to explicitly enable external interrupts somewhere in mach-sun5i/ or they should be enabled by default?
<rz2k>
yes, you need to resolve this for both driver and mach-sun5i
<rastkok>
Except i2c_board_info .irq in mach-sun5i/devices.c and on driver side?

<rz2k>
rastkok: you should ask Turl and techn_
<rastkok>
Ok, thank you very much rz2k.

rz2k: i personally fear that we will get a lot of disappointed people, who will loudly lament the lack of real support or the lack of anything real on top of the cheap chinese hw that is being resold here. this will reflect badly on free software and on our project here.
<Mehhh>
will these work on the mk802, or do they so so but only see 512?
<WarheadsSE>
rz2k: hey, still futzing with arch at all ?
<rellla>
f** dial-ul
<rellla>
got it now. hopefully
<rz2k>
libv: I totally agree
<rz2k>
WarheadsSE: I've finally figured out xf86-video-mali for arch's xserver
<rz2k>
already pushed to our repo
<rz2k>
sorry, need to go. will be back in ~5 hours.

rz2k: yaay for neal!
<lkcl>
ah he's gone
<lkcl>
well, that's the time when the "pee haitch pee bee bee" forum gets set up
<lkcl>
so that such people can be tactfully steered in that direction
<techn_>
yeah.. cubieboard also will attract noobs, since raspi is so well supported and they expect all devboards to be same
<libv>
it's fundamentally different though, penguboard makes people assume that the hw will work perfectly with linux, cubieboard makes people assume hackable hardware. the first will make people expect things to work well, with the second, people know that there is still some work to be done
<techn_>
hno: my a10 tablet boots/works pretty well now.. but there is still problem with uart :/
<RaYmAn>
libv: no, because all the moneyz go to improving linux on a10!!!!!!1111oneone (I assume the sarcasm here is obvious.)
<techn_>
hno: it sometimes freezes on boot to line: <6>Serial: 8250/16550 driver, 8 ports, IRQ sharing disabled
<lkcl>
RaYmAn: he's had a great idea, he's not massively confident about it, but he's succeeded in raising the money, let's support him and steer him towards success rather than criticise him with sarcastic comments, yes?
<lkcl>
so if you raise your concerns directly with him, i'm sure he'll listen.
<lkcl>
this is all new to all of us
<RaYmAn>
lkcl: I have a hard time taking rebranded devices sold at an above-market price seriously.
<techn_>
hno: and sometimes uboot stops to: "Hit any key to stop autoboot: 3 0 \n sun4i#".. even If I dont press "any key" ;)
<RaYmAn>
especially on the premise that these are somehow more supported by linux than any other cheap a10 tablet.
<lkcl>
RaYmAn: that's fine if you want to imagine that it would be hard for *you* to support rebranded devices, but he's clearly shown that there is a market for them, because people have given him money!
<lkcl>
so... he's going to learn a hell of a lot, because he's committed now.

<lundman>
could become a nice media player
<steev>
maybe the 1.4ghz one
<steev>
the 1.7 would get too hot imo
<lundman>
it'll be fine. if it works in a tablet, a small metal case will be great
<steev>
is there a quad 1.7 in a tablet? i thought they were all 1.2 or so
<lundman>
1.4is in s3, and the 1.7 in note3 or somethng
<lundman>
i only skim read it

i'm on one at the moment, it's quite nice
<lundman>
yes, but is it red, everyone knows red is faster
<ssvb>
steev: it will just throttle the clock frequency down when overheating, but single-threaded workload or short bursts of multi-threaded workload should run fine at 1.7GHz
<hp__>
lundman: yeah i was just watching those.. man its cool isn't it?
<lundman>
should be quite interesting. just want a good mediaplayer :)
<hp__>
lundman: this is so much more then a mediaplayer :)

If a computer really was reduced to just USB ports and no integrated peripherals, what would be the best SoC for that?

penguin42: why choose X2 over the U2?
<penguin42>
hp__: It says 4 weeks from purchase rather than 2
