is there a way to get the mempool (changed setting to over 300MB) filled with the transactions that are missing? Other than copying mempool.dat over?

<sipa>
how do you mean "missing"
<emzy>
historic. The transaction it evaded before.
<emzy>
It's for a mempool explorer (mempool.space). Would be nice to have also all old evaded transactions.
<emzy>
preferable over p2p from another node with a big mempool.
<jeremyrubin>
emzy: I think it's slow no matter what... do you own both nodes?
<emzy>
No. I have no node with a bigger mempool. But I might know someone. So maybe most easy is to just copy mempool.dat over.
<jeremyrubin>
yeah I think that should work?
<jeremyrubin>
you can also dumpmempool I think and then submit the hex one by one?
<jeremyrubin>
that might be better because mempool.dat would nuke your mempool too
<sipa>
copying mempool.dat is probably easiest
<jeremyrubin>
if their mempool is bigger than yours, might be fastest to dump yours to hex, copy theirs, then resubmit yours
<jeremyrubin>
but in theory if it's "well behaved" your mempool should subset theirs
<sipa>
well, approximately
<emzy>
I hoped for a way over p2p.
<jeremyrubin>
emzy: it would be a DoS if it worked over p2p easily
<jeremyrubin>
btw this convo is probably more suited for #bitcoin-core-dev than wizards?
<sipa>
if you peerbloomfilters enabled on the node with big mempool, and send a dummy filter, you can use the getmempool (BIP35) command to get the entire mempool INV'ed
<sipa>
yeah
<jeremyrubin>
sipa: we don't have some worklimit on that?
<emzy>
nice idea. I think we can stop the topic. I will try to get the file.
<sipa>
oh, it also needs a special net permission
