I know there is already a irc.log but I'm already used with their service on #linux-sunxi and they have a very useful search engine which help to fast search some topixs

shineworld you should ask Tom or channel owner if its ok.
<mnemoc>
we had it before
<mnemoc>
uhm.... only ibot?
<shineworld>
sorry, I've saw the service running yet some weeks ago in linux-sunxi so I've thought that wasn't a problem to ask covering also for that channel
<shineworld>
I'm sorry if that is a problem...
<mnemoc>
it's not a problem. I assumed _whitelogger was here already
<user>
ssvb, i guess how to have a debian complete with 3d driver working (video accelleration) for fast desktop
<jelly-home>
and a pony!
<jelly-home>
well. if debian had a kwin_gles build, a reasonable desktop might even be feasible
<user>
jelly-home: a pony? a flying magic pony!
<user>
it it possible, usually debian does.
<user>
mnemoc, are you ther?
<user>
someone know if at least DVI monitor with HDMI adapber finally works?

user: it has worked since before you first asked the question, with a recent enough kernel and a kernel command line like disp.screen0_output_mode=EDID:1280x720p60 hdmi.audio=EDID:0
<user>
jelly-home, do you have a no-hdmi monitor? I mean a monitor with DVI plug. Did you tested that command line with DVI monotor and image are visible on it?
<jelly-home>
user: I'm using it right now. I was using it a couple weeks ago when you asked the first time as well.
<user>
jelly-home, thanks, update me after the test.
<user>
i read wrgon, sorry.
<jelly-home>
well, it's actually worse now, there's a HDMI switch in between so I can plug a PC and the cubie to the same monitor
<user>
jelly-home, what is the resolution of your dvi monitor?

so big
<user>
i hope my poor 1440x900 can work.
<jelly-home>
user: A) microsd B) installed berryboot and whatever linaro image they linked at their page
<user>
ok.
<jelly-home>
you don't have to use berryboot, it was just handy
<user>
i try to do the same in weekend.
<jelly-home>
and with a recent enough kernel
<user>
jelly-home, can please point me out a link from where you start? (os image to donwload and so on)
<jelly-home>
actually I used the berryboot android app
<jelly-home>
again, merely because it was handy
<user>
so can i skip berryboot whitout problem?
wooy has quit [Quit: leaving]
<jelly-home>
sure, but then you need to procure a recent enough kernel from somewhere else
<user>
i mean, it is not necessaty to have a full wonrking os?
<user>
ah...
<user>
so better o go safely with berryboar fist, to be sure to hace working cubie.

well... berryboot is an interesting piece of work as it pretends to be a boot loader, but actually provides a kernel a limited amount of drivers and a good bit of early userspace, and just passes control to a different root fs when it "boots"

hrm, wonder if something like that could be used on the pi
<Tachyon`>
can it actually load another kernel and start it or do all rootfs have to work with the same one
<user>
jelly-home, i will start with berryboot, later i will search for better drivers. at the mement my first need is tyo mahe CB working with my DVI monitor :-)
<jelly-home>
if the monitor gives out correct EDID info, it ought to work
<user>
jelly-home, i have desktop x86 running linux connected to DVI monitor: there is a way to check EDID by command line tool or else?
<jelly-home>
user: your /var/log/Xorg.0.log will show if there was any readout
<user>
let me check. 2 min.
