<lunra> Does anyone currently use an LCD with their cubieboards? Could you please tell me which one you're using? I'm after an LCD to use with my cubieboard that there already exists a framebuffer driver for / support is in hardware because I want to hack up a portable game console
<hno> I do not use an LCD, but it's quite flexible in what LCDs to support.
<hno> supporting both TTL & LVDS, and many different resolutions.
<lunra> Thanks :)

<lxsameer> is uboot the only option?
<Satorin> How many mA should I throw at a Cubieboard when having a SATA disk attached?
<Satorin> I'm thinking about throwing one in a server rack, but I've only got 1A.
<Satorin> Can't afford to upgrade. :(
<lxsameer> Satorin: i think you will need 2A
<lxsameer> !ls
<lxsameer> !power-specs
<lxsameer> !expl power-spec
<Satorin> 2A, that's quite a lot...
<Satorin> mhm.
<lxsameer> !expl power-specs
<CubieFAQ> power-specs: The Cubieboard requires a regulated 5V DC, 2A power supply with a 4.0mm (external diameter) x 1.7mm (internal diameter) barrel plug. A 500mA supply is sufficient if you do not attach a SATA hard disk to the Cubieboard. Please note that if you then connect USB peripherals to your Cubieboard, then these may require more power than the standard 500mA that a PC USB port provides.
<Satorin> I see, I see.
<Satorin> 500mA is okay.
<Satorin> But of course I need a disk...
<lxsameer> Satorin: then you need 2A
<lxsameer> Satorin: i use a PSP PSU
<lxsameer> Satorin: it's only 3$
<Satorin> I see. Thanks for the info.
<lxsameer> Satorin: ;)
<rm> try with 1A
<rm> but it's likely barely enough
<rm> also many PSUs are overrated
<rm> so it's always good to have a headroom
<Satorin> I see. Might give that a go... then again, you're right on the latter. (I figured that out the harsh way. ^^;)

<mnemoc> tried as root?
<mnemoc> sudo echo x > /sys/.... is a usually mistake
<mnemoc> that way the echo runs as root, but the write as the luser
<mab> yes, tried as root using sudo
<mab> no success
<mnemoc> sudo, how?
<mnemoc> exact line
<mnemoc> as I said `sudo echo x > /sys/....` won't work
<mab> sudo echo 255 > /sys/class/leds/green\:ph20\:led1/brightness

<mab> ah

<mab> so i have to open a root shell right?
<mnemoc> echo 255 | sudo tee /sys/.... works

<mab> echo mmc0 > /sys/class/leds/blue\:ph21\:led2/trigger
<mab> what i dont understand the way mmc0 works
<mnemoc> the led subsystem is told to enable the trigger of the mmc0 (uSD) device
<mnemoc> and start blinking on io activity of that device
<mab> yes, thats what i understand
<mab> i just don't get it what mmc0 outputs
<mab> it tried echo mmc0 > mmc0.log
<mab> but i dont see any output
<mnemoc> mmc0 is just an string
<mnemoc> echo mmc0 will tell "mmc0"
user_2 has quit [Remote host closed the connection]
<mnemoc> "mmc0\n" to be strict
<mnemoc> it's just a name
<mnemoc> understood by the led driver as a device name
<mab> ahhh

<mab> not by the bash, bash threats it as a regular string, right?
<mnemoc> right
<mnemoc> just like you can echo "mab"
