\\Mr_C\\, what do you mean by "do the embedded"?
<\\Mr_C\\>
it has an option to do embedded software stuff, like wrt
<\\Mr_C\\>
i think it would be cool to use that board with the cubie's ethernet port
<\\Mr_C\\>
plus it has gpio pins
<hno>
The TPLINK only have 2MB flash and no GPIO.
<hno>
I think.. but the information do not seem to match fully.
jemk has left #cubieboard ["bye"]
<\\Mr_C\\>
im going to order one for the heck of it
<hno>
I do not hink the 2MB flash info is correct. It's apparently running some kind of Linux and likely Samba as well. Doubt you can fit that in 2MB.

the alfa one?
<hno>
no the tplink one.
<hno>
could not find much information on what's inside the tplink.
<\\Mr_C\\>
oh, the alfa one is what i was talking about,
<\\Mr_C\\>
has two ethernet ports
<hno>
both have.
<\\Mr_C\\>
and i think 32 meg storage and 8 megs ram
<\\Mr_C\\>
SDRAM: 16MB Flash: 8MB
<hno>
Not sure I would run OpenWRT in 16MB RAM. Oddly the OpenWRT page says 32MB.. And are you sure you want only the board without antenna & power supply?
<hno>
or casing.
<\\Mr_C\\>
i have power supplies and antennas
<\\Mr_C\\>
lots
<\\Mr_C\\>
my dsl routers and modems are all aprt anyways
<\\Mr_C\\>
i use the serial port on them alot
<\\Mr_C\\>
they are all rooted
<\\Mr_C\\>
i just want another toy thats all

<arod>
what SD card should I buy? size/speed
Amnience has quit [Quit: Leaving]
<BigWhoop[DE]>
the size you need for your development :)
<BigWhoop[DE]>
speed depends also on your needs.
<arod>
BigWhoop[DE], I'm going to set up a LAMP server on a debian distro.
<arod>
I read most images require a 4GB SD
<BigWhoop[DE]>
maybe you dont need any :)
<BigWhoop[DE]>
you can use your nand
<BigWhoop[DE]>
and files from sata drive...or if it fits on any sd card as well
<arod>
BigWhoop[DE], I know I can. but it's not the easy way to start, right?
prassel has joined #cubieboard
<BigWhoop[DE]>
we have a great wiki for the most questions and howtos.
<BigWhoop[DE]>
but you are right...for startup a sd card is a good choice. But its not importent which one.
<arod>
BigWhoop[DE], anyway it should be handy having an SD card to try some distros or images.
<arod>
installing to nand is the next step of course
<BigWhoop[DE]>
because when you know how to use it you would startup from nand :)
<arod>
that's the plan
tpaper has joined #cubieboard
<arod>
so 4GB minimum? do I need it to be class 10?
<BigWhoop[DE]>
doesnt matter
<arod>
ok
<BigWhoop[DE]>
your nand has 4GB so if you want to copy your ready OS from SDcard to nand it should has the same size :)
<arod>
good to know! so I'd better go with 4GB than with 8GB
<BigWhoop[DE]>
for testing your sdcard speed isnt important
<BigWhoop[DE]>
but >4 is a good choise :)

umm
<\\Mr_C\\>
not true
<\\Mr_C\\>
the nand can accept 4 gigs
<\\Mr_C\\>
just if your sd card has more data you cant copy it all
<\\Mr_C\\>
like mp3's and movies and crap, no point of putting those on the nand
smccarthy has joined #cubieboard
<BigWhoop[DE]>
not > 4gb but > 4 class :)
<wooy>
arod: get the cheapest sd card you find, once you get your image up try nand. if it wont be fast enough get cheapest (even second-hand) ssd drive...
<\\Mr_C\\>
oh
<\\Mr_C\\>
i have some class 4's and they seem fast enough
<BigWhoop[DE]>
....... >= class 4

ok? :)

sure

woo

well, looks like I'll be purchasing one soon :D

when you have to purchase an charger buy a better one. Because you want to plugin something to the cubie.

rymate1234: consider 5V 2A
<BigWhoop[DE]>
and maybe thats not enough for 1A PSU

when not loaded? That could be ok.

5.2 DC in open circuit, but with the polimeter y also get about 10V AC

mine does ~5.3V

but it looks robust enough and a decent product

a 10v ripple

user_2, depens on what triggers are mapped to the two leds. Both are software controlled.
<user_2>
hno, who can i control these 2 leds? woh can i link to a particoular action i like?

Assuming your kernel is resaonably current the leds are controlled via /sys, including binding them to different kernel even triggers.

see /sys/class/leds
