I'm running debian wheezy on the cubieboard courtesy of this tutorial: http://linux-sunxi.org/Cubieboard/Installing_on_NAND and I cannot seem to get the sound chip to work. I'm trying to use the audio jack on the back, and each time I open alsamixer, I get "Unable to open mixer: No such file or directory", and lsmod doesn't yield any sound modules loaded. Any ideas?
<Compy>
Also, what chip does the cubieboard use for sound anyway? Its not in ANY of the specs.

user_2, if the port is configured as an OTG port (which it most likely is) then it should work fine to plug a USB device there. you just need the right cable/adapter.
<user_2>
hno, do you mean i can plug a (i.e.) keyboard directly an it will works without anykind of action at software lelel? ( of course usi a usb adapter)
<hno>
user_2, yes, that's the idea.

hi
<naquad>
i've purchased cubieboard and i would like to install there some linux (preferrably debian based, best choice - debian itself). but my problem is that tv is in repair shop and i don't have anything else able to show hdmi output. can i somehow do installation w/o video output? kind of specially prepared flash or something?
<naquad>
there are 4 pins and there's 4 wires here, but which one goes where?
<\\Mr_C\\>
position your cubie with the ethernet to the left
<\\Mr_C\\>
and hdmi to the right
<\\Mr_C\\>
in the middle is the serial connection
<naquad>
i see it
<\\Mr_C\\>
from closest to you
<\\Mr_C\\>
do
<\\Mr_C\\>
black
<\\Mr_C\\>
skip
<\\Mr_C\\>
green
<\\Mr_C\\>
white
<\\Mr_C\\>
so
<\\Mr_C\\>
other way would be
<\\Mr_C\\>
closest to the usb ports
<\\Mr_C\\>
white, then green, skip, then black
<\\Mr_C\\>
do not hook up the red
<naquad>
so black = gnd, green = rx, white = tx, red = not used. right?
<\\Mr_C\\>
correct
<naquad>
thank you
<naquad>
trying to boot
<\\Mr_C\\>
thats the pl-2303 cable
<naquad>
its alive1!!
<naquad>
thank you very much
<\\Mr_C\\>
no problem
<naquad>
rm, how do i install your image onto onboard nand?
<rm>
it is intended to run from SD card
<rm>
maybe you can find a way to install to NAND, but I have not tried and don't have any instructions
<\\Mr_C\\>
ive done it
<\\Mr_C\\>
its faily simple
<\\Mr_C\\>
fairly
<\\Mr_C\\>
rm
<\\Mr_C\\>
thats your web site?
<naquad>
that was a suspcicious typo >_>
<mnemoc>
patrick wood posted a nice script on the sunxi ML when get submited the changed for the repartitioning tool to notify the kernel to reread the table
<mnemoc>
magic uSD to NAND including repartitioning
<rm>
the "power adapter" should be at least 1000 mAh
<rm>
500 mAh won't be enough
<naquad>
as i understand perfect case is 2000mAh
<naquad>
right?
<mnemoc>
1A for the cubie 1A for the sata drive
<rm>
yes, 2000 should be ok
<naquad>
ok then
<naquad>
will go and buy it tomorrow
<naquad>
thanks for clue
<rm>
naquad, maybe you have chargers with a MiniUSB plug
<rm>
the CB can be powered via MiniUSB too
<naquad>
nope :( i don't have those
<naquad>
will have to wait until tomorrow to play with that stuff
<rm>
well
<rm>
try powering it from your computer's USB
<rm>
something to try rather than just waiting
<simon__>
hello everyone, i can't get video output in android via hdmi/dvi adapter (no problem using berryboot etc). i'm playing with script.bin fex file but with no luck, is it even possible to run android (the last android tv from the official cubieboard website) on a 1280x1024 screen ? thanks
