lol hi alexgordon
<
ELLIOTTCABLE>
this looks really cool:
<
ELLIOTTCABLE>
very sephr-ish
<
alexgordon>
ELLIOTTCABLE: very interesting
<
alexgordon>
ELLIOTTCABLE: it's disappointing that it's written in js though
<
ELLIOTTCABLE>
Why?
<
ELLIOTTCABLE>
They're developing a design / prototype. And they make a good point about the simplicity-restrictions.
<
alexgordon>
ELLIOTTCABLE: js is not suitable for writing cryptographic code
<
alexgordon>
for example, you can't store a key securely in js
<
alexgordon>
in C you can use mlock so it doesn't get paged out
<
alexgordon>
and securely zero a key after it's been used
<
alexgordon>
not so in JS
<
alexgordon>
also JS makes it extremely difficult, probably impossible, to write side-channel-less code
<
alexgordon>
I guess it's fine for a prototype, but I bet it leaks data like a sieve
