<slurdge> whitequark: in my case i've seen it work with marcan, plus, curiosity. which is the main factor behind many of my purchases
<slurdge> florolf: noted. let me know if you happen to have another run

<electronic_eel> seems like Greg is ramping up Glasgow production https://twitter.com/GregDavill/status/1172822442877702145
<JJJollyjim> oshpark boards are so pretty
<JJJollyjim> i really want a glasgow, but can't justify the extra cost of a single-unit run compared to buying one when they're produced in bulk

<gregdavill> electronic_eel: Yep, Got 9 PCBs from OSHPark for this batch. I'm hand assembling them so they're coming out as a trickle, 10 or so a month.
<gruetzkopf> hmm
<gruetzkopf> we'll have to talk once i get my "toy" budget back up (assuming es den isn't faster)
<gregdavill> gruetzkopf: Sure! I'm still not 100% sure who these are going to, for now I'm leaving that to Whitequark to decide on, I don't have the capacity to produce a board for everyone on the waiting list.
<gregdavill> I kind of want to try to get my OpenPnP machine a bit more functional now, in order to speed up the assembly. :P But that machine is a huge time/money sink :(
<gruetzkopf> my slightly cursed revB (that was the one that caused the interconnect rewrite..) is working fine currently, so all is well ;)
<gruetzkopf> (the level shifters are kind of annoying though)
<tnt> remove them :p
<thaytan> I want to see the LED cube in person
<thaytan> gregdavill, do you go to LCA?
<gregdavill> Is that in QLD next Jan? I could probably make that.
<thaytan> that's the one
<gregdavill> Is there a electronics/hardware aspect to that conference though? I know mithro wanted me to go to the last one in New Zealand, but I left it too late.
<thaytan> The Open Hardware Miniconf 1 day track has become a fixture
<thaytan> that was this year's one

<electronic_eel> gregdavill: about the solder on the samtec connector: the Glasgow you made for me also has it

<electronic_eel> maybe send the photo to samtec support and ask them for guidance?
<electronic_eel> don't know if the ones made by esden and others also have it. Maybe it is something with the stencil layout that could be improved
<esden> I do not remember seeing it on mine. I will check.
<electronic_eel> esden: you have to use a microscope or macro lens to see it
<esden> Yeah I know ;) will do that :)

<esden> I only see the transition to gold flash. (not the whole pin is gold plated) There is some flux creeping up the pin but that is pretty much it. https://usercontent.irccloud-cdn.com/file/biucdJfO/IMG_1501.jpeg
<esden> the photo with my phone on my microscope is not great I know :/
<electronic_eel> esden: the connector on your photo looks different from gregs one. Do you use the exact same samtec part as in the bom or a similar replacement?

<esden> ohh right his seems to be a lower profile...
<esden> mine is the FTSH-122-01-F-DV-K-P
<electronic_eel> hmm. seems like the glasgow bom doesn't have an exact part no specified for it (J5)

<esden> yeah I don't think there was a part selected for that footprint...
<esden> IIRC that connector is considered optional anyways...
<esden> I don't remember if we decided that we will be populating it on the production boards or not.
<esden> I put it on the prototype boards because I got samples and I know that whitequark
<esden> will want to test it
<whitequark> aha
