<d1b2> <Hardkrash> @Attie is this Shippable to USA? Or is that cost/effort ineffective?
<d1b2> <Attie> unfortunately I'm only able to ship to EU/UK, sorry
<midnight> Attie: Most of the people I know in my remote Canadian circle are waiting for the crowd supply campaign.
<midnight> And IMO for the revC1 that is absolutely not too steep at all..
<d1b2> <Attie> good to know, thanks!

<electronic_eel> Attie: are you sure your £115 are sustainable and there is enough margin for unpredictable problems? like some new customs bureaucracy, us export restrictions,...
<electronic_eel> or part shortages with steeply rising prises - remember the mlcc crisis from a few years ago?
<d1b2> <Attie> electronic_eel - it's certainly tight, and I'm not sure I'd want to offer it at that price past this group buy... I have included some margin in the figures, i hope enough
<d1b2> <Attie> i think I've covered customs charges and issues, but could you expand ont he US export comment? (I've not come across a financial implication on that before)
<d1b2> <Attie> re supply chain / mlcc, i do remember... hmm
<electronic_eel> you need to buy parts, and the big distributors are mostly in the us. so what if exporting stuff from there became much more complicated, needs special forms, applications, even brokers or whatever?
<electronic_eel> the us are in a trade war with china and want to cut off some chinese companies like Huawei from access to strategic parts
<d1b2> <Attie> ah i see... fair point
<electronic_eel> if they really escalate it, it could also affect other businesses
<electronic_eel> and trump doesn't care about that at all
<electronic_eel> about the price - if you got the feeling it is thight and you may not offer it at that price again - then I'd say your calculation may be flawed and I'd reconsider the price
<electronic_eel> now, before the group buy members have payed, you can still reconsider
<d1b2> <Attie> I'm currently planning to use PCBWay's turnkey service (boards + assembly), so I won't be purchasing/sourcing directly...
<d1b2> <Attie> indeed - I've sent a message to the group, and mentioned that prices will likely rise if the numbers come down... and we're currently just about at the low end (numbers wise) of what i'd worked out for costings
<d1b2> <Attie> (i gave an estimated figure more inline with 100% of those registered as interested coming through to purchase, which was perhaps a little naive)
<electronic_eel> I haven't done business with them yet, so I can't say anything about them. But when some external problems came, other companies, western or chinese, have given me the option to either pay extra or cancel the order.
<d1b2> <Attie> (we're currently at ~72%)
<d1b2> <Attie> interesting, I've not had that in the past, but my orders are typically for smaller prototype runs
<electronic_eel> if the problem is really on their side, like they goofed up reading in the gerbers, then most companies will offer a free redelivery
<electronic_eel> but even that doesn't cover the import duties you payed for the bad parts
<d1b2> <Attie> true
<electronic_eel> and import vat in the uk is 20%?
<d1b2> <Attie> yeah, plus a fee from DHL usually
<electronic_eel> yeah, there you have parts of your risk
