<daviddias> we have pretty good coffee close to here too :)
<krlseattle> but do you have universal laptop chargers?
<krlseattle> they had nextdoor, which saved my ass :)
<daviddias> krlseattle I've an extra adapter for US Mac Chargers
<daviddias> that's what I use when I travel
<krlseattle> daviddias: i guess you learn with experience ;)
<daviddias> ahah yes :D
<krlseattle> i kind of assumed they would have adapters here, which they did, but of course only in the wrong direction.
<cSmith> heh
<daviddias> also, those Universal adapters are bit pricey
<daviddias> I bough a bunch of Mac Adapters in ebay for 5$ sometime ago
<krlseattle> daviddias: so, if i shouw up now, would i get in? says open til 5:30
<daviddias> it is open 24/7 for us
<daviddias> we have the keys :D
<daviddias> this is the addr - Impact Hub Seattle 220 2nd Ave S Seattle, WA 98104
<krlseattle> daviddias: i mean, can i ring a bell or smth when i get there?
<daviddias> the door should be open till 9pm

<opn> OK - I need some help regarding HTTP API. I'm getting back empty JSON when I try to add a file. I POST multipart/form-data to "http://localhost:5001/api/v0/add?stream-channels=true" with or without a few tweaks - and just get back empty JSON. I need a CURL example - can anyone help?
<cryptix> hey fd0 :)
<cryptix> opn: you could inspect what the webui does or tcpdump an 'ipfs add' from the client
<cryptix> a normal multipart/form-data should work
<opn> Yes I've been looking at that. So far stumped. There is no authentication (the session stuff is just for the way the client works)?
<cryptix> thats why we (currently) advise to only bind to localhost

<cryptix> cryptotec: id assume to LocalForwards to 4001 and 5001 should get you working like it's local
<cryptix> (our cli client might act weird but for a browser it shouldnt make a difference)
<cryptotec> so I can open a HASH from my local machine
<cryptotec> just not the webui
<cryptotec> added a few files to a dir, added the dir to ipfs and opened it in my local browser fine via http://localhost:8080/ipfs/HASH
<cryptotec> so whats different with the webui, should that not work the same way?
<cryptix> cryptotec: :8080 is a readonly http gateway to ipfs
<cryptix> :5001 is a json api that gives you all the commands that the cli tool is able to do (config, name publish/resolve, add, etc)
<cryptix> we keep them seperate to make it more flexible (exposing :8080 to the network is no problem)
<cryptix> exposing :5001 can be dangerous depending on what you used your node for until then
<cryptotec> it works now
<cryptotec> thanks cryptix
<cryptotec> but I did not expose it did I?
<cryptotec> my command would channel the remote port no?
<cryptix> if it is only listening on localhost on the ssh host to, you should be fine
<cryptix> (if there are no other users on that remote box... :))
<cryptotec> ssh -R 5001 user@remote_host localhost 5001
<cryptotec> ssh -R 5001 user@remote_host localhost:5001
