Not really, on a closer read, this was very clearly my mistake. The only thing I could think of is highlighting the hash in the output and underlining the statement, but at that point we're making excuses for me failing to read a fairly minimal amount of text.
<colemickens>
But if I find anything less-obvious that I get stuck on I'll try to file an Issue or send a PR.

I've been reading about Perkeep a lot and then diving into Dat/IPFS today, so a lot for me to ramp up on.

hey,i've been poking around with a go-ipfs fork for a project i am working on currently, and one thing i can't seem to find is where the minimum unpinned file lifespan is, from my understanding of the docs,etc.. is that garbage collection removes files for which X time or more has elapsed since the last request for it, and that GC prioritizes removing the most stale of these, is this understanding correct? and if so,where is
<Davesterr>
the minimum lifespan defined

Davesterr: garbage collection simply removes anything that's not pinned
<lgierth>
(there's gonna be a more flexible garbage collection in the future)
<JCaesar>
Not pinned or reachable via mfs… no?
<lgierth>
stuff in mfs is pinned :)
<lgierth>
best-effort-pinned, to be precise

"best-effort"?
<lgierth>
if you move something into mfs that you don't yet completely have locally, best-effort pinning will pin what you have, but not fetch the missing blocks

vquicksilver has joined #ipfs
<cipres>
void9: under linux you'd use the inotify api to get events when something in the directory was changed
<cipres>
then just ipfs add -qr the directory, and then ipfs name publish --key=key on the new hash
<void9>
cipres is that script open source?
<cipres>
void9: yes but my script uses qt's QFileSystemWatcher
<cipres>
(which is cross platform)
<void9>
I don't mind that, I'm going to use it on a server with gui anyway
