RhineDevil: it looks like folks have mostly answered your questions. One thing I'll add about advertising addresses is that you can manually choose what addresses you tell people about. However, if you don't tell people how to reach you then when they try and look for content you have how are they going to find it? Answering that latter question is where some system like TOR could come in handy where I've told you how to
<aschmahmann>
As for what IPFS devs are working on right now, there's a lot going on, but in go-ipfs work is mostly going around the 0.8.0 release which is in its RC phase now (and you can check out on GitHub). In the new year there's a lot of exciting things we'd like to do and the work of prioritizing and roadmapping for next year is under way. People have been putting up proposals in issues at https://github.com/ipfs/roadmap.

privacy: Have you made sure that there are no IO errors on the system? As in, the data is surely definitely readable for the import process?
<Jassu>
(I have no clue about the IPFS internals, but I'd generally rule out all other failure modes before digging deeper into the rabbit hole of debugging)

dogeageorge: yes, however you should probably check if https://docs.ipfs.io answers your questions first
<privacy[m]>
<Jassu "privacy: Have you made sure that"> In my opinion, there are no IO problems. The hypervisor has no problems and neither does the VM with IPFS.
