Ipfs is a filesystem, you'd need a database for CRUD. You could create files programmatically to act as your data store https://stackoverflow.com/q/62648572/1580610

If IPFS is meant to replace (or be an alternative to) HTTP, then why are IPFS links prefixed with HTTP?
}ls{ has quit [Excess Flood]
<Ke>
is it?
<Ke>
I though ipfs was just a backend thing
<Evilscaught[m]>
The IPFS links I've seen so far have been. Unless I've been looking at the wrong thing. I thought it was meant to be front-end as-well, I'm new so I have much to learn.
<Evilscaught[m]>
https://ipfs.io/ipfs/ ← here's a shortened IPFS link I got from library gensis, it begins with HTTP
<vinniejames[m]>
IPFS links are accessed trough an http proxy unless your browser supports the protocol
<vinniejames[m]>
With brave you can access ipfs:// directly
<Evilscaught[m]>
Oh cool! In that case I'll install Brave. Thank you.

Does IPFS have buffer nodes? I.e. servers that periodically detect which files are currently most requested and then automatically download and cache them to boost the speed of the network?

How can I debug why "ipfs config apply local-discovery" hangs?
fast_invsqrt[m] has left #ipfs ["User left"]
<lordcirth>
-D only prints "cmd/ipfs ipfs/main.go:131 config path is /var/lib/ipfs" before hanging
<lordcirth>
strace stops at a futex() call
<lordcirth>
Hmm, I wonder if it's waiting for the daemon to release the lock
<lordcirth>
... yeah, that seems to be it.
arcatech has joined #ipfs
drathir_tor has quit [Remote host closed the connection]
<lordcirth>
So if the computer crashes, "ipfs daemon" won't start until the lock file is deleted. But if the lock file is deleted and the daemon is running, then config apply hangs.
<lordcirth>
Would it be a bad idea to put the lock file on tmpfs so it gets cleared on reboot?
