TheGallopingFox, its likely you are using full 8 bit colour channels with an hdtv that dosent support them
<
martian67>
there is an option in kodi to restrict the colour pallete
<
martian67>
cant remeber what its called but i know its there
<
martian67>
typical symptoms are your darks getting crushed down like that
<
martian67>
also putting your tv into "PC" mode may help

<

hi, i've baught a wired xbox one controller but libreelec (on odroid c2) doesn't detect it.
<
Lord>
I tried it on my linux desktop and it's well detected by the kernel
<
lrusak>
kernel is probably too old
<
Lord>
it's the one provided by libreelec, is there a way to upgrade it ?
<
Lord>
i think libreelec stuck to 3.14 because of the odroid c2
<
mack->
well, LE stuck to 3.14
*on* the odroid c2 and kin. LE moved on to 4.19 on better supported hardware
<
Lord>
yep that's what i suspected :-/
<
Lord>
i think there is a 4.19 mainline kernel supporting everything on the C2
<
mack->
there is work on the kernel still, in hopes of getting it updated in future releases
<
lrusak>
nothing released on a newer kernel
<
lrusak>
we are working on it
<
Lord>
i'm reading hardkernel's forum and it looks like latest mainline kernel works fine even with hw video
<
Lord>
does libreelec try to use (more or less) the same kernel for every devices ?
<
lrusak>
there is a couple issues
<
lrusak>
mainline kernel doesn't have the v4l2 driver merged yet IIRC
<
Lord>
is there a way to boot another kernel (to try)
<
lrusak>
there is no support in FFMPEG to support using DMABUFS from v4l2 yet (I've been working on this for a while)
<
lrusak>
no you cannot boot another kernel
<
lrusak>
anything amlogic is currently hacked together
<
Lord>
i hate all those little arm crappy things
<
Lord>
0 compatibility between devices
<
lrusak>
you will have to wait till we have all the bits and pieces put together before we move to mainline
<
lrusak>
well the problem is vendor BSP kernels
<
Lord>
do you have a little idea on how long could it take before releasing a new kernel ? one week ? one month ? one year ? … ?
BCMM has quit [Ping timeout: 245 seconds]
<
lrusak>
Lord, depends really, if I get SW decoding working properly then it could be a matter of a couple weeks
<
lrusak>
but HW decoding after that may take up to a year

i really like that kodi now lets you use emulators. I had lakka but wanted to play videos.

thanks for the answer

systemctl disable does not work

ahh ok, systemctl mask not disable
<

ponyofdeath, what's wrong with disabling them in the LibreELEC settings?

<

anyone else have this problem?
<

Ooh an update
<

TheGallopingFox: how does it crash?
<

I.e. can you still ssh in to get a log?

i select a station

it says Working.. for a few seconds then kodi quits and restarts
<

Can keep a tail on the kodi log through ssh, might tell you what's wrong
