I'm using my thinkpad x200s with libreelec on my TV. The TV screen's resolution is 1920 by 1080. It is connected via VGA. I just don't know why but nomatter what I do, I can't get 1920x1080 from libreelec. Any ideas?
<vegankumpir>
I installed it with a USB stick that I burnt amd64 version of libreelec with the image burner tool (forget the name).
<vegankumpir>
What I mean is, I'm sure I followed the prosedure correctly.
<vegankumpir>
installing prosedure*

The TV may not accept a signal above the resolution it is currently trying to display at via VGA. Also, VGA is a terrible transport for High Definition, VGA is an analog signal, so your computer is down grading a digital signal to analog, and the TV is reconverting the analog signal back to to digital. You will experience loss in visual fidelity

vegankumpir: ^ ^
<vegankumpir>
pragmaticenigma: But thinkpad x200s only has VGA port that I'm aware of.
<vegankumpir>
Do you know any better alternative I can try?

RaspberryPi is $35 and runs LibreElec nicely
<vegankumpir>
I know but the exchange rates of dollar in my native currency right now (for a quite long time, to be honest) is so high that $10 price is really high for me.
<vegankumpir>
I wanted to make something useful with the things I have but if it is going to be 720p, I'm okay with that.
<pletopia>
then you will be stuck with that
<vegankumpir>
Yeah, that's basically what I said.
<vegankumpir>
Does it use X11?
<vegankumpir>
I can make custom resolution with xrandr.
<vegankumpir>
Why didn't I think that? lol
<pragmaticenigma>
won't make any difference if the TV doesn't understand the signal
<vegankumpir>
Are we 100% sure that TV doesn't understand?
<vegankumpir>
If it runs X11, I want to give it a try.
<buzzmarshall>
vga ouch
<buzzmarshall>
lol
<buzzmarshall>
i thought the old thinkpads had at least a displayport on them
<buzzmarshall>
as well as the vga
<pragmaticenigma>
buzzmarshall: it does, but that model did it only through the docking station
<vegankumpir>
Apparently x200s does not.
<buzzmarshall>
aw... k
<vegankumpir>
I once had t400s and it indeed has.
<buzzmarshall>
ya i can see the docking station
<buzzmarshall>
that would make sense
<pragmaticenigma>
vegankumpir: You can try to create your own resolution, just hope the TV has circuitry to protect against bad signals (incorrect refresh rates and such)
<vegankumpir>
pragmaticenigma: Then it runs x11?
<pragmaticenigma>
I don't know that part of the platform well enough
<pragmaticenigma>
I would assume it should be running x11 but I wouldn't know the details beyond that

pletopia: Please don't cross post, you're already receiving help in Kodi ... and you were already told what the issue was
Tobbi has joined #libreelec
<pletopia>
actually you provided help .. the others not so much
<pletopia>
and seems i'm not alone based on what i found kodi forum
<pletopia>
seems a new scraper version is getting pushed but not appearing yet
<pletopia>
that fix's the title .. but also read that there still might be issues with some plots not loadig properly
<pragmaticenigma>
pletopia: the same advisement there would go here. The prevailing recommendation right now is to switch to using The Movie DB, until The TVDB gets their stuff sorted out
<pletopia>
yeah .. and i can hold off till it gets sorted out
<pletopia>
i was just curious if anyone else had seen issues .. and instead i get rideculed
<pragmaticenigma>
and the short/blunt answers you are receiving is because you're asking for help, but deliberately hiding information about your setup. It's hard to support something when all the information isn't willingly provided
<pletopia>
i actually wasn't asking for help per se .. just asking if anyone had noticed it
