Hey guys, how is libreelec different from openwrt (for my router)?
oxek has quit [Ping timeout: 258 seconds]
<}8]>
theyre practically the same, why?
wh0kaers is now known as IPFreely
<IPFreely>
That's why I'm wondering, why. :p
<IPFreely>
Can I use LibreELEC for consumer-grade routers such as TPlink or Netgear?

IPFreely, you were in here earlier asking about headless operation, and I told you... that's not an intended use case and wouldn't be supported. As for the "similar" that is reference to supporting infrastructure of the OS. (Same kernels, networking libraries, etc.) OpenWRT is specialized for Networking Management. LibreElec is specialized for multimedia management and display. The things that LibreElec needs to operate are
<pragmaticenigma>
not necassarily going to be available in OpenWRT.
asdf28 has joined #libreelec
<pragmaticenigma>
IPFreely, Primarily LibreElec requires a display driver as it is intended to be display on a screen. OpenWRT will not have that. If you try to launch KODI without a display it will error out

<pragmaticenigma>
doesn't make sense to me why OpenWRT would have any display drivers, virtual or otherwise included in its build, beyond being able to put text on a screen

Oh, I see the disconnect }8] ... this person had started this conversation in #kodi a few days ago
<pragmaticenigma>
they're claiming that running a pi is too expensive for space and power draw... so they want to run it headless somewhere and use VLC to stream content to the Chromecast enabled TV
<IPFreely>
Is that.. practical?
