<shadeslayer> Hi, I'm trying to evalute whether the ODROID C1 has GPU support in mainline ( with the mali DRM driver ), but I don't see a node for it in the DTS
<memeka> shadeslayer: what Mali drm driver? There is no such thing
<shadeslayer> memeka: this one? https://github.com/mripard/sunxi-mali
<shadeslayer> well, maybe not drm driver, but the mali driver that interacts with the proprietary GLES implementation
<memeka> So what do you think are the chances a Mali driver that interacts with proprietary gles blob will make it into mainline?
<shadeslayer> memeka: I'm not talking about the driver itself, but a DTS entry
<shadeslayer> for eg. the RK3399 has one
<memeka> shadeslayer: yeah if they are not there they might be added in the future probably
<shadeslayer> ok
<memeka> E.g. panfrost uses that driver atm too
<memeka> But probably will make their own driver in the future
<shadeslayer> sure
<shadeslayer> is what I was talking about
<memeka> shadeslayer: I know what, I think they’ve been added for odroi c2 too dunno about c1
<shadeslayer> ack
<memeka> shadeslayer: Meson8/Meson8m2: add the Mali-450 MP6 GPU
<memeka> Meson8b: add the Mali-450 MP2 GPU
<memeka> For 5.1
<shadeslayer> aha it's wip
<shadeslayer> great
<shadeslayer> uf, there's so many libmali's out there now :)
<memeka> All of them with their own issue a
<shadeslayer> yeah
<shadeslayer> memeka: aha, I found https://patchwork.kernel.org/cover/10720813/
<shadeslayer> thanks :)
<memeka> shadeslayer: cool, hopefully there will be drm driver too
<shadeslayer> :)
<memeka> shadeslayer: if you prowl the amlogic mailing list you might find the cpufreq drivers for c1 too
<shadeslayer> memeka: https://patchwork.kernel.org/patch/10139599/ looks like it
<shadeslayer> so I guess there's some suport
<memeka> Last one is for meson gx
<adema_> only gx or gxl also ?

<xdarklight> narmstrong: speaking of that: VPU is giving me a hard time :/
<xdarklight> narmstrong: I tried various things (need to write them down at some point...) but the only thing I can get to work is 1) keep OSD2 as the output (don't disable it, etc.) 2) hack OSD2 to use the same canvas ID as OSD1
<xdarklight> whenever I try to switch to OSD1 or let the driver write to the OSD2 registers then I only get a black screen
<xdarklight> narmstrong: do you think we can do a hacking session at some point where you give me a list of "this may be worth trying, if it doesn't help get the register dumps and we'll see how to continue from there"

<xdarklight> narmstrong, ccaione: I won't make it to FOSDEM :/
<ccaione> :(
<xdarklight> I got an eye on ELCE, but I didn't make a final decision yet
<ccaione> well, fosdem is definitely cheaper ;)
<xdarklight> but unfortunately it's the wrong direction on that weekend (as I'll be in Czech republic on February 2nd)
