<topi`> I've managed to get this exotic RK3288 board from Advantech to work. The only thing missing is the PHY which I am unable to set up correctly. Maybe it's worth sending in the patches for inclusion in mainline kernel? I mean the board file.
<topi`> sorry, it's the "device tree" nowadays, not the board file :) my mind was wandering around the historical things.

<nomis> I am kind of stumped. Something happened and I no longer have a /dev/fb0 on my rk3328 based hardware. This used to work and I have no clue what I
<nomis> did to lose it.
<nomis> do I need some commandline parameters to enable the framebuffer?

<robmur01> nomis: I'd start by checking if the DRM driver for the display is probing correctly - if it is, check if you haven't managed to lose CONFIG_DRM_FBDEV_EMULATION

<nomis> truns out /dev/fb0 just does not exist if there is no monitor connected. Thats surprising to me.

<nomis> robmur01: is it possible to hardcode a specific resolution, independently of a monitor attached or not?
<robmur01> I guess you'd have to force the HDMI into "connected" state somehow, then maybe provide a fake EDID as well
<nomis> I see. Thanks.
