<premoboss>
hi, i have nanopineo (both v1.0 and v1.1). armbian 5.20 kernel 3.4.112. my problem is i cannot ssh into usb cable (over ethernet cable it works). i already do ssh-over-usb on other board successfully, so pc/cable/configuration is ok. On NEO i set usb0 in /etc/network/interfaces as i did on other working board. NEO at boot load module g_ether and set up the usb0 but seems not announce to pc that dont set up his own usb0, on pc i gpt error if i do ifup
<premoboss>
usb0 . Someone know how to solve this problem?

I would like to know if someone here has already successful access to the NAND with the u-boot version on A20-olinuxino board ?
nekomona has joined #linux-sunxi
<premoboss>
BurtyB, from PC i cant ping/ssh the NEO because pc dont "rise up" the usb0
<premoboss>
i can do using cross cable ethernet, but the goal is go with usbcable
<nico___>
@premoboss your PC loaded the correct driver ?
<nico___>
i had the same issue with zynq board, and the trouble was with RNDIS driver
<premoboss>
nico___, PC vork correctly if i use another arm board (Arietta with kernel 4.4.6 acmesystems.it/arietta). that kernel has g_ether arcoded in kernel and not loaded as module.
<IgorPec>
what about issuficient power supply? If you are powering via USB2 than it's almost normal that it doesn't work
<premoboss>
what do i have to check on PC side? some module tu unoal, maybe?
<premoboss>
i power nano from usb (the same i want to use for ssh). i also added a second usb cable (only for +5V/GRD) on espasion strip (2 for 5V and 6 for GRD). but no success.
<premoboss>
nanopi is od, i think so, because if i go using ssh over ethernet, all works. so i suppose there is enough energy. more, i turned off 3 cores, downspeed the clock, etc usung h3confguratin tool. so neo is at minimun consuming .
<premoboss>
this board is quite perfect for my need, but if i cant connect by ssh on OTG, it became useless to me :-.(
<IgorPec>
those features and kernel is still WIP so it could be broken atm
<IgorPec>
you were trying on mainline or legacy or both=
<premoboss>
Hi IgorPec thanks for your comment. i was serching gor my error, but if it is WIP, then ica can be unserstable it still doenst work. i am using legacy kernel (linux 3.4.112), i will try with mainline. bythe way: there isa page that report status of WIP for armbian related to different devices on different boards?
<IgorPec>
we face two problems here: legacy kernel is as is, we do minor fixed but that's all. nobody is touching it... mainline kernel is what is mainlined + our fixes. For this particular board(s), monitor progress @linux-sunxi and here: https://github.com/igorpecovnik/lib/tree/master/patch/kernel/sun8i-dev
* BurtyB
had FEL+g_ether+nfs root working (other than systemd killing usb0 before it rebooted) over USB only with legacy but couldn't get it going with mainline when I last tried
<premoboss>
My main needs are, A. ssh-over-usb. B. possibility to use /dev/ttySx to controll some serial device. C. possibility to use SPI/I2C. A need is the most important becasuse without it, all thaft csame after is not usable.

premoboss, well I didn't find the card - but a stock 5.20 (jessie) boots once, I login set root password, add user, it auto rebooted and it doesn't look to be starting the kernel anymore - maybe that's what you're seeing too?

for me it looks like you may miss some MTD options

ecc->size comes from mtd_to_nand(mtd); otherwise it will be set to 0

but can be totally wrong. last time i used plain nand was u-boot 2012 :)

100?

about 1000
<beeble>
you can get better prices by just asking around on alibaba, but going via proper distribution channels give you a much higher chance of not getting fresh foil wrapped trays

<deskwizard>
beeble, thanks mate, I'm learning a lot today hehe, I get the same -22 error now
<deskwizard>
thats a start :)
<beeble>
i'm on my way home now. so can't look any further into it. i would guess that there is a problem in probing the nand. maybe it tries to get the info from the nand chip itself or something missing in the dts. maybe there is a debug option for more output while doing the mtd stuff (in the past there where pr_debugs in the mtd code)
<beeble>
but can't check the code now
<beeble>
maybe try greping for mtd debug
<beeble>
remember there was a define and a verbose level
<beeble>
but still a wild guess based on the mtd_to_nand call a few lines before the error
