I have been doing some tests with A20 and nand. the sw SLC mode works well with ubifs on top.

but for much that I try, I cannot get a working uboot (anything that prints a message) on the nand. tried many things but CPU just never initializes, serial is empty. can only try things over FEL for now

hrm, my u-boot is booting from spiflash, after writing u-boot-sunxi-with-spl.bin to offset 0, but when I then try and do "sf read blah offset" to load my kernel+initramfs, I just get not probed, and "sf probe 0:0 0 0" (or any combination) just gives "Invalid bus n"

I'm pretty sure i'v eturned on everything I can in uboot for spi flash, is this looking in the dts for a peripheral now and not finding it or something?

for a board like the nanopi duo2, which has optional spi flash, what's the general/best/recommended way of supporting that? is it _only_ via dt overlays? or do you enable spi0 in the dts for everyone? you can't put any flash partitions in anything other than an overlay I presume, so you'll still need an overlay?

likewise for uboot, I should a defconfig include support for spi flash or _only_ what's on the board from the factory?
