<karlp> plaes: well, hooked up a "wdreset" command to sunxi-fel thanks for your pointer yesterday: https://github.com/linux-sunxi/sunxi-tools/pull/131
<plaes> \o/
<karlp> I don't have any other parts though, there's a h5 at the office, but haven't been there in a month.

<kilobyte_ch> Hello, I'm trying to boot a 3.4.75 sunxi kernel with Mainline U-Boot. It's stuck at `Starting kernel ...`. I already set bootm_boot_mode to sec and CONFIG_ARMV7_LPAE=n. Is there in the meanwhile something additional needed to boot the legacy kernel?
<KotCzarny> i think there is a 'allow legacy kernel' in uboot config too
<KotCzarny> s/allow/support/
<kilobyte_ch> `Enable support for the legacy image format`? This one is on
<plaes> kilobyte_ch: there's section in wiki about this...
<kilobyte_ch> As stated above I already applied both things which are mentioned in the wiki
<KotCzarny> might be that something got broken again
<KotCzarny> as was the case before
<KotCzarny> :)
<KotCzarny> but does your kernel boot with other uboot versions?

<kilobyte_ch> KotCzarny: Yes, with an ancient Uboot from 2011 the kernel boots
<karlp> plaes: so... followon, I've currently got a sdcard with the fel image on it, and uboot and the kernel/rootfs I'm working on on spi flash. I now just have to pop the sdcard in and run "reset" rom uboot to get back to fel. and then pop it out and "sunxi-fel wdreset" to get back to uboot
<KotCzarny> what about 2018/2019's uboot?
<karlp> can I put the fel bit from the sdcard into a "spare" bit of my spi flash and have uboot just boot into it?
<kilobyte_ch> KotCzarny: Will try to test if it boots with some older uboots, thanks for the suggestion
jbrown has joined #linux-sunxi
<montjoie> kilobyte_ch: why not trying more recent kernel ?
<montjoie> 3.4.75 is really old (and insecure)
<kilobyte_ch> montjoie: I need tvin for my application and havent' yet ported it to something newer

<kilobyte_ch> Is my assumption right that the newest sunxi kernel with `all` features is 3.4.104 and if I want something newer I need to use the mainline Kernel?
<KotCzarny> i think work on legacy kernel was dropped long time ago

<karlp> awesome, uboot usb gadgnet networking starts up, but then turns itself off if it doesn't get a dhcp address.
<karlp> but I can't configure it in network-manager until it appears :)
<karlp> and my host end of it keeps creating a new mac address each time.
<aloo_shu> karlp: I got a vague idea that that could be improved on the host side, getting network manager out of the way and putting some line into /etc/network/interfaces
<karlp> well, cdc-acm keeps a stable interface id, and shows the deadbeef001 from ubbot
<karlp> but uboot still seems to be tearing down the gadget whenever it fails a boot script
<karlp> which is extremely unhelpful
<karlp> I managed to get it get a ip assigned now, as I could configure it before it went away on cdc-ecm and it came back as the same thing next time
<karlp> but it made ~20 attempts for pxe files then tore down the gadget, instead of letting me use it :)

<kilobyte_ch> I'm trying to convert a script.fex to device tree. Currently I'm stuck at converting the OTG Part. How can I do something like that in a dts? usb_det_vbus_gpio = "axp_ctrl"\nusb_drv_vbus_gpio = port:power4<1><0><default><0>
<kilobyte_ch> (If I understand correctly the pin to drive vbus is not on the CPU but on the PMU)
<kilobyte_ch> I didn't find any DTS which has a OTG with such a strange vbus drive. Maybe I overlooked something

<ElectroStrong> so - I have an old kernel from the sunxi branch that I used years back - is there a way to determine the LOADADDR of that kernel as I don't recall ever entering in a LOADADDR for uImage when I compiled it in the past
<ElectroStrong> was there a default for the A10/sun4i platform that was commonly used with uboot?
HeatfanJohn has quit [Remote host closed the connection]
HeatfanJohn has joined #linux-sunxi
<ElectroStrong> or better yet - is there a way to get information from an existing kernel that had the LOADADDR previously defined?
<ElectroStrong> i.e. some type of metadata search in a uImage
HeatfanJohn has quit [Remote host closed the connection]
HeatfanJohn has joined #linux-sunxi
<ElectroStrong> n/m - found the .uImage.cmd in the boot directory of the old kernel - load address of 0x40008000

<kilobyte_ch> Ixnus not sure, it looks like a q8 and has a A23 in it. The pcb has pads "TX" and "RX" on the top. But I don't get anything out of the TX Pin. I even wrote a rc.local script which writes to ttyS0-ttyS9. Still nothing. Also enabled uart0-4 in the dts file.
<kilobyte_ch> Also OTG seems to not work. If I plug in a USB Keyboard with a OTG Cable it doesn't do anything. I can hammer they keyboard and nothing happens on the login screen.
