<apritzel> Hi, can anyone with a Pine64-LTS please confirm that they a) have two LEDs and b) that there is blue LED on pin PL7?
<apritzel> "gpio clear pl7" should light that LED up in U-Boot, gpio set pl7 should turn it off again
<apritzel> it seems like both wens and I got special boards, so just want to check before adding this LED to the official DT
<wens> apritzel: I'll try out mine tomorrow

<willmore> mirko, I've seen that when driving a WS2812B with a 3.3V SoC. The first device often had the wrong color. The solution was to put a diode in the voltage supply. That, somehow, made it start to behave. Strange, but it worked.
<willmore> Clearly don't do that for a long strip as you'll have color accuracy problems on a >60 LED strip for sure. Plan B is to use some kind of buffer to do level translation.

<jernej> apritzel: should I also resend OrangePi 3 U-Boot patches without PSCI_RESET disabled config?
AneoX has quit [Ping timeout: 264 seconds]
<apritzel> jernej: eventually yes, but I plan on reviewing them tonight, so you might want to hold off on this for a bit
<jernej> ok, I'll wait till tomorrow then
<jernej> apritzel: please also check H6 DDR3 fix I send a while back, it would be nice if it gets merged
<apritzel> yes, that is on my list as well
<jernej> it's field tested, without any complain
<jernej> ok, great
<apritzel> it looks alright, I just wanted to give it a test here as well
<wens> read in the news that there is a shortage of PMICs, WiFi/BT and other analog chips
<apritzel> wens: in general, or just Allwinner ones?
<wens> apritzel: in general. what I heard was that it was affecting smart phone production

<bauen1> apritzel: if you can give me commands to pass to sunxi-fel then i can test mine too, i got this board for free from tllim a few months back (wow time really does fly)

<apritzel> bauen1: sunxi-fel writel 0x01f01428 0x81 writel 0x1f02c00 0x17777777
<bauen1> apritzel: it does have 2 leds looking out the side of the board, and i think another smd led near the dc jack
<apritzel> bauen1: yes, that sounds about right. One of the two LED is controlled by the PMIC (charge LED)
<bauen1> apritzel: but the 2 on the side are controlled by the a64 ?
<apritzel> the green SMD one is directly connected to the power socket, so lights up as soon as you have some voltage in there
<apritzel> I meant one of two two next to each other is this PMIC controlled one, the other is connected to the A64's PL7 pin
<bauen1> apritzel: it works, the blue led (furthest from the usb ports) lights uo
<bauen1> *up
<apritzel> bauen1: cool, many thanks!
<apritzel> wens: see ^^^ , we are already three people where this works ;-)
<wens> apritzel: did you get your board from tllim as well?
<apritzel> wens: yes, I think at some FOSDEM
<apritzel> wens: so I share your concerns about not having off-the-shelf versions
<wens> I also find it interesting that they used the same resistor value for the status LED as the power LED
<wens> one being blue, while the other is green
<wens> apritzel: I suppose we need to ask if anyone here bought theirs :p
<bauen1> lol
<bauen1> it's nice how the leds on the Pine64-LTS don't burn your eyes out
<apritzel> wens: yeah, but I guess many people in here are in the same boat ;-)
<wens> or maybe I should just ask tllim
<bauen1> if it's just an u-boot command to activate the led, i'm sure we can find someone on the pine64 discord to confirm it
<apritzel> bauen1: thinking about the Pine H64?
<bauen1> apritzel: yes
<wens> bauen1: the green ones on the h64 are super bright *squint*
<bauen1> i can't even get my red leds that bright if i remove the resistor and pump 5v through them (i think at least)
* apritzel puts on his sunglasses
<wens> bauen1: they'd burn out first lol
<bauen1> wens: i think they're rated for 5v, so i think that should work
<wens> put a multimeter in series and see how much current is going through it?
<bauen1> wens: i don't have a multimeter
<bauen1> still need to buy one, but also don't want to get some cheap thing that lasts 3 weeks
<apritzel> bauen1: I have a cheap one (well, from Conrad) that lasts for about 15 years now ;-)
<bauen1> apritzel: do they still sell it ?
<bauen1> recently my parents bought one (relatively cheap) but the probe pins broke after a few uses
<mru> can you afford a fluke 87?
<bauen1> mru: 500usd is a bit out of my price range lol
<mru> are they that expensive?
<bauen1> i suppose it's on sale for ~400usd right now
<apritzel> bauen1: Lol, googling for my model points me to radiomuseum.org ;-)
<bauen1> i've posted on the pine64 discord, let's see if someone wants to test this led
<apritzel> bauen1: many thanks!
<mru> ah, the fluke 110 series are much cheaper
victhor has joined #linux-sunxi
<apritzel> bauen1: I guess you can take one of those Voltcraft VC models, between 20 and 30 EUR
<apritzel> bauen1: that should have some basic build quality
<apritzel> (just get some extra fuses if you plan on measuring current)
gediz0x5391 has joined #linux-sunxi
<bauen1> apritzel: thanks, i'll take a look
<bauen1> but if e.g. https://www.conrad.com/p/voltcraft-vc130-1-handheld-multimeter-digital-cat-iii-250-v-display-counts-2000-1090519#! can go up to 10a at 250v, won't i have other things to worry about before i blow the fuse
<bauen1> i mean consumer grade extension cords are usually limited to ~3.5kW around here
<apritzel> bauen1: the low current measurement path is protected by an 200mA fuse, and that's easy to exceed (accidentally)
<apritzel> you can measure higher current, but with less accuracy
<apritzel> I guess this is one of the drawbacks - at least is on mine, maybe they fixed it
