<apritzel> hexdump0815: it's 100Mbit Ethernet on that box, right?
<hexdump0815> oh yes you are right 10hex = 16 ... that was my mistake then i guess ... i see a flip there: https://pastebin.com/raw/Lau1Akux
<hexdump0815> if i'm counting right that would be bit 17 or assuming counting starts at 0 that would be 16 which would match the dtb
<apritzel> it's mostly count from 0, including this case
<hexdump0815> apritzel: i think its 100mbit - its like with the h6 tv boxes - they all seem to only have 100mbit

<apritzel> ullbeking: Allwinner SoCs are not a good choice for two GBit ports
<apritzel> ullbeking: some have one GBit + 100 Mbit, but for two Gbit you would need an H6 SoC, which has USB 3.0, and attach an USB GBit adapter
<apritzel> ullbeking: not sure this is what you are after, though
<ullbeking> apritzel: i'm putting my daughter to bed now, back in about an hour
<apritzel> jernej: thanks for the reply, will fix up everything up and push it ...
jstein has joined #linux-sunxi
<jernej> great, thanks!
<jernej> I'll continue work on H616 soon
<jernej> soo many patches to push :)
<apritzel> jernej: great! I am pretty confident that we can get this ready in two weeks
<apritzel> jernej: btw, I pushed the first patches to https://gitlab.denx.de/u-boot/custodians/u-boot-sunxi/-/commits/master/, that includes FEL64 and mkimage
<jernej> nice, I'll rebase on it
<smaeul> could one of you please paste the output of `md.l 0x07083000 10` from U-Boot on any H616 board?

<smaeul> aha, so there is an RSB controller there! now all that's unknown is the IRQ number
<jernej> where did you get address? from H6?
<smaeul> SUNXI_RRSB_BASE or R_RSB_BASE in various platform headers in H6 BSPs
<apritzel> smaeul: I will try to switch to RSB in TF-A, just a bit busy at the moment
<apritzel> smaeul: the IRQ should be not too hard to find
<jernej> apritzel: when you'll have time, please rebase https://github.com/linux-sunxi/sunxi-tools/pull/152
<apritzel> jernej: yeah, it's on my list ...
<jernej> apritzel: btw, now sunxi-fel works great with H616, no more fiddling with separate commands
<ullbeking> 20:43 <apritzel> ullbeking: Allwinner SoCs are not a good choice for two GBit ports
<ullbeking> 20:44 <apritzel> ullbeking: some have one GBit + 100 Mbit, but for two Gbit you would need an H6 SoC, which has USB 3.0, and attach an USB GBit adapter
<ullbeking> yes, it seems so. i think that implementing what i want from cheap sbc's or similar things, it would have to all end up a bit "dongly" if you know what i mean. i think for 2x proper NIC's, plus 2+ on-board SATA controllers, plus (ideally) ability to plug peripherals directly to pci-e, i would need a proper mini-itx mainboard.
warpme_ has quit [Quit: Connection closed for inactivity]
<apritzel> ullbeking: yeah, by design all those SBCs use smartphone/tablet/set-top-box SoCs, which are by their very nature not very good at I/O
<ullbeking> apritzel: so what ARE they optimized for?
<smaeul> wanting multiple gigabit ethernet + multiple sata puts you in the helios64/macchiatobin/developerboard/ten64/honeycomb market segment
<apritzel> they are cheap, don't cost much and are not expensive ;-)
<jernej> at least some of them are great for multimedia center :)
<apritzel> the Espressobin is probably the cheapest in this crowd
<ullbeking> smaeul: apritzel: i think you're absolutely right
<smaeul> yes, video playback (TV box, kiosk, car display) seems to be what they are optimized for
<apritzel> ullbeking: the eBin has three Gbit and a SATA
<ullbeking> i actually have a pile of corebootable mini-ITX boards that might be suitable, not sure however (D510MO, D945GLCF, etc). never seriously looked at Ebin/Mbin, etc.
<ullbeking> the idea is to build a cluster implemented as a "stack" of boards separated by 2" standoffs
<ullbeking> and to run Ceph on it
<ullbeking> 21:48 <smaeul> wanting multiple gigabit ethernet + multiple sata puts you in the helios64/macchiatobin/developerboard/ten64/honeycomb market segment
<ullbeking> thanks for the suggestions. i've been out of the loop for a while so some of these are new to me.
<smaeul> the downside of all of those boards (other than helios64, which is rk3399) is that they require some blob
<apritzel> ullbeking: but in general any 100 €/£/$ PC mainboard beats a bunch of those when it comes to I/O performance and number of connectors
<ullbeking> apritzel: ebin is suited for networking appliance whereas mbin is for a storage appliance?
<ullbeking> apritzel: +++++
<apritzel> ullbeking: both eBin and mBin are networking chips
<ullbeking> apritzel: an atom-based soc with proper nics and io interfaces is going to be ideal, and can be had at not much more cost
<apritzel> I think those SBCs shine when it comes to price, size and power consumption, but only if you don't expect too much
<apritzel> and heavy I/O is certainly out of their comfort zone
<smaeul> IIRC, synquacer developerboard may not require a blob, but it has most of its I/O behind a PCIe x1 link and switch, which is why I ignored it when it was new
<ullbeking> apritzel: oh don't get me wrong. i LOVE them. the OPi +2E is one of my all-time favorites, and I have a 5-node cluster of OPi +2E.
xeniter has joined #linux-sunxi
<apritzel> I am not convinced that a cluster of SBCs is really a good idea, since you lose many advantages, but don't gain enough
<ullbeking> apritzel: it's just a silly experiment
