(ehsm location) you mean the pictures in the middle ? "the caverns of DESY" has a nice ring to it ;-)
<larsc>
was the ring joke on purpose?
<wpwrak>
i noticed the lovely pun while writing it ;-)

today's weird experiment: cleaning solder flux with liquid butane/propane. it actually works :)
<lekernel>
and I assembled EDID on 2 other HDMI boards - all channels work correctly. so it's probably poor contact/solder or something like that on the board that has the transceivers... just bad luck :(
<mumptai>
ligther gas?
<Fallenou>
good news, the fpga design is good :)
<Fallenou>
Alarm told me he will soon assemble the hdmi boards
<Fallenou>
then we will meet so that I can get one
<lekernel>
Fallenou, which fpga design?
<lekernel>
mmu?
<lekernel>
mumptai, misused duster spray, but I think lighter gas would work just as well
<mumptai>
;)
<lekernel>
wpwrak, the conference room is part of desy
<Fallenou>
14:02 < lekernel> Fallenou, which fpga design? < the hdmi design
<lekernel>
well, yes, EDID no longer has pesky bugs
<lekernel>
the data part, however, ...
<Fallenou>
and as soon as you send data, does it make other parts of the design fail like before ?
<lekernel>
no, this is fixed too
<Fallenou>
nice :)
<lekernel>
but the data reception and/or decoding does not work

lekernel: (EDID working) great !
<wpwrak>
lekernel: what kind of flux do you use ? RA ?
<lekernel>
"no clean" (but still leaves ugly residues) rosin
<lekernel>
the residue "resembles diluted bird-droppings" (wikipedia)
<wpwrak>
funny description ;-)
<wpwrak>
i use an ultrasound cleaner, with demineralized water (the kind you use in cars, so it's easy find). no risk of aggressive solvents.
<wpwrak>
there's a risk that it could hit a resonant frequency and destroy something, but so far, i had no problems of that kind. there are also more expensive models that vary the frequency to avoid just that sort of issues.
<wpwrak>
that's for "no clean" or "water soluble", and it can also handle small amounts of RA. for lots of RA, you may still need solvents, though. but then, "lots of RA" is dirty work anyway :)
