<pac_> Axioplase: how is your fbsd install doing ?
<Axioplase> pac_: no. the networkcard isn t standard. unable to patch the kernel.
<Axioplase> i installed a mandrake (the only linux i could boot) and i ve just had a debian take it over.
<Axioplase> now, i m updating my debian on it.

<dan|el> you all bsd users?
<Riastradh> No.
<Riastradh> Unless you count Darwin as a BSD.
<dan|el> I do
<dan|el> well, hmm
<dan|el> it's atleast a derivative
<dan|el> i guess some people call it Darwin BSD

<lucifer> so how do i get the arrow keys etc working in the ocaml interpreter?
<monotonom> I'm afraid it can't be done. The interpreter doesn't use the gnu readline library or something similar. But you can run it inside emacs, and emacs will provide the editing for you.
<lucifer> thats a bit sad :(
<gzl> heh came to freenode and mono answered the question anyway :)
<Riastradh> You can run it in Emacs or in any of the multitudes of generic readline-oid wrappers, such as ledit (which is itself written in OCaml).
<pac_> stupid ocaml interpreter ....
<monotonom> I was away and missed the question the first time.
<gzl> ah, ok
<lucifer> its amazing how its programmers aparently werent bothered enough by it to fix it :)
<Riastradh> It's not particularly bothersome. Emacs & ledit work fine for me.
<dan|el> how come it doens't use readline anyway?
<dan|el> lucifer: I agree
<Riastradh> dan|el, it would incur extra complexity on the already much too complex interpreter, and the functionality already exists elsewhere.
<lucifer> Riastradh: lol :)
cjohnson has quit [Connection timed out]
cjohnson has joined #ocaml
<dan|el> it exists in emacs you mean?
<Riastradh> In Emacs and ledit.
<dan|el> what's ledit?
<Riastradh> A generic readline-oid wrapper written in OCaml.
<lucifer> well one can do a 'socket -p ocaml -s -l 12345' and let some mud client connect to it :)
<dan|el> oh cool
<Riastradh> (It's not actually a readline wrapper, but it acts like it.)
<monotonom> Haha mud client
karryall has quit [Read error: 60 (Operation timed out)]
<dan|el> mud client?
<dan|el> what do telnet clients have to do with line editors?
<lucifer> well the mud client often supports arrow keys etc over a telnet session
<lucifer> so when you hang the ocaml interpreter behind a tcp port..
<dan|el> oho
<lucifer> Riastradh: that ledit is a neat trick as well though.. they should advertise its use :)
<Riastradh> I don't count as an advertisement?
<lucifer> oh you do, but this channel isnt mentioned in any documentation :(
* monotonom changes 12345 to 80.
