but i admit that reading between the lines it eventually leads to security. its not about the shebang or about the +x, its about the principle of least privilege. these small things may be nothing but they may be make or break, it could be that small thing needed to reach a vulnerability somewhere. ive seen it happen many times where something seemingly insignificant and unrelated was a path to
<grift>
exploit a bug somewhere else totally
<grift>
but from adrians perspective it may be something totally different. it may be that he is interpretting that stuff and that it bothers him that some things in there do no make sense. it distracts. people that strive for perfection might just be annoyed enough by small bugs to take a friday's afternoon to rectify it

My mate tried to register on OpenWrt.org, but it says that registrations are disabled. I noticed on forum that you are doing registrations manually due to spambots. Is that right?

Borromini: ah, you mean iwinfo, ie. what is shown as human readable product description?
<Borromini>
yes
<Borromini>
in LuCI
<dangole>
Borromini: that's in hardware.txt in iwinfo.git
<Borromini>
oh :)
<Borromini>
so i was looking in the wrong tree then. thanks

dangole: i'm seeing e.g. for the MT7622 also entries in iwinfo_nl80211.c, does that only apply to SoCs?

<Borromini>
going through the git logs it seems most radios just get added in hardware.txt only
<dangole>
Borromini: yes, PCI radios need to be added only there. only if vendor/product ID are not available (ie. WiSoCs) some more hackery is needed
<Borromini>
ok, cool thanks

Uhh… guys? Is the MT7621 RAM probed, or fixed? Since last update, my RM2100 is telling my I have 256 MiB of RAM instead of 128 MiB (I'm not complaining if it's true)…
<rsalvaterra>
Borromini: I didn't find anything obvious in the device trees yet…
<Borromini>
rsalvaterra: is mt7621_xiaomi_redmi-router-ac2100.dts your dts?
<rsalvaterra>
Yes, that's the one.

Borromini: No memory section anywhere to be seen…
<rsalvaterra>
I believe some manufacturers actually use larger RAM chips and limit the available memory in software, but this would be too good to be true, which probably means it is.
<Borromini>
rsalvaterra: nope, looks like that to me as well
<Borromini>
so maybe it does autodetect?

can you open up your redmi?
