daniels: What's that in reply to? :P
<alyssa>
urjaman: Nice!
<alyssa>
tomeu: That's possible, though honestly it looks more like a userspace bug that was just ggravated by the kernel space (kbase occluded the userspace issue)... no blame being tossed but at myself on this one :p
<urjaman>
"Reason: TODO" :)
<alyssa>
urjaman: :D
<urjaman>
oh anyways hey this is the first time i've gotten panfrost to render anything since i think that time that i replicated your first tests way back
<alyssa>
Nice
<alyssa>
urjaman: Which device?
<urjaman>
my C201
<alyssa>
Panfrost kernel or kbase?
<urjaman>
panfrost
<alyssa>
nNice :D
<urjaman>
i just rebased it to my 5.1-rc3
<alyssa>
urjaman: It's good to know I haven't broken anything yet
<alyssa>
Since my C201's build is aging
<urjaman>
anyways the results are: weston is only showing what is currently redrawn, sway is kinda running but throws TRANSLATION_FAULT_LEVEL3's in the dmesg and glitches
<urjaman>
and i dont know how to operate sway :D
<TheCycoONE>
weston only showing what is redrawn is what I get on kevin too
<TheCycoONE>
(a few weeks ago)
<urjaman>
hmm i'll check what my mesa is at (i just pulled it and built it in a new build dir and installed)
<alyssa>
That's normal
<alyssa>
EGL_BUFFER_AGE shenanigans
<alyssa>
Not sure about sway
<alyssa>
TheCycoONE: BTW, do you use the internal wifi on kevin?
<TheCycoONE>
alyssa: yes
<alyssa>
TheCycoONE: ...Do you have problems with the speed/reliability?
<TheCycoONE>
The only issue I have with it is that it is only enabled every other time I wake from suspend.
<alyssa>
Huh
<alyssa>
Just, comparing internal wifi on Kevin to tethering from my phone's wifi.. the phone wins markedly and that was wholly unexpected
<alyssa>
Noticable typing lag over SSH, etc
<alyssa>
The Internet indicates I'm not alone..
<TheCycoONE>
I haven't noticed myself, irc stays connected and downloads seem reasonably fast. I'll keep an eye out for lag.
<alyssa>
Internet also blames peoples' routers
<alyssa>
Which is nonsense
<urjaman>
the brcmfmac on the c201 has the problem that it's really laggy at being a server (so ssh'ing into the laptop is bad) but it works good as a client
<alyssa>
If your device is the only one on the network that doesn't work well, it's your fault.
<alyssa>
People are saying it was fixed after OS updates... I wonder if there are multiple firmware images floating around
<alyssa>
Regardless.. people need to take responsibility for the code/hw they write.
<alyssa>
It's okay to have bugs. It's not okay to blame them on someone else.
<alyssa>
("Have you been reading Torvalds?" "Maybe")
<TheCycoONE>
heh, modern Torvalds, there was a lack of profanity
<TheCycoONE>
did you mean lag when you ssh'd into or out of it?
<alyssa>
TheCycoONE: Like, typing in the SSH'd terminal feels noticeably slow. It was fine tethering to phone wifi.
<alyssa>
Throughput is probably fine (I have low requirements), but the latency is annoying.
<urjaman>
... not sure if you answered the question
<TheCycoONE>
not at all :)
<alyssa>
...Oh
<alyssa>
Out of it.
<alyssa>

gotta check how it died this time ...
<urjaman>
ok the same thing as above
<urjaman>
this time i tried to play a video with mpv from weston ...
<TheCycoONE>
I was wondering, after the kernel drivers are merged (and now that mesa is merged), are we going to end up on panfrost by 'default'?
<urjaman>
i mean kinda sorta maybe i think so (need to obviously build the kernel module, and mesa with the driver, but other than that ...)
<TheCycoONE>

alyssa: no perceptable lag using ssh here
<TheCycoONE>
quite possible there was a firmware update, but I haven't found any information about it. As for router I'm using an asus ac68u with asuswrt-merlin firmware
<Lyude>
(I use a wrt1900acs)
<Lyude>
(if anyone is looking for router suggestions)
<TheCycoONE>
she's having severe lag on kevin with the built in wifi, but not when teathered to her phone.
