cfbolz changed the topic of #pypy to: PyPy, the flexible snake (IRC logs: https://quodlibet.duckdns.org/irc/pypy/latest.log.html#irc-end ) | use cffi for calling C | if a pep adds a mere 25-30 [C-API] functions or so, it's a drop in the ocean (cough) - Armin

<mattip> I am participating in the weekly Quansight show-and-tell on Thurs, talking about PyPy
<mattip> I think I will do something along the lines of "Is PyPy a meant to be a research project or an alternative Python"
<wleslie> are you answering yes to both or something else? (:
<mattip> I think it is a better way of framing the discussion than "PyPy: everything CPython does but faster"
<mattip> and enables discussing the history from a different perspective than "look how much effort went into this thing before it was even useful"
<mattip> I think the problem is a missing '#include <string.h>' to get the definition of 'memset'. Should I make a PR to cffi?

<arigato> mattip: thank you for the PR
<mattip> arigato: would you like to set up travis-ci on the github mirror? That way you could test arm/windows/macos
<arigato> I don't think I have much energy to invest into making sure cffi works everywhere. I won't object if someone else does though

<mattip> arigato: fair enough
<mattip> it would be nice if they all passed on pypy, but that is a higher bar than on cpython
