<jcowan> lavaflow: "Rackety"
<jcowan> Defined as "1. noisy, rowdy, or boisterous. 2. socially lively and, sometimes, mildly dissolute." Sounds just right.
<lavaflow> sounds right

<J_Arcane> "The only people who were afraid of the parentheses turned out to be people who already knew how to program." yessssss.
<J_Arcane> I have realized this more and more
<J_Arcane> across the spectrum of FP even
<J_Arcane> I had a much easier time learning it than many of my colleagues, because I had nothing to unlearn

<lavaflow> somebody taught me the % command in vim and that totally changed my opinion on parens. even something as simple as editor support for jumping to the matching paren can really change the perspective people have on s-expressions.
<euhmeuh> I could use any editor for Racket as long as it can show matching parens on the fly. Even without syntax highlighting, it feels like the only required feature for editing lispy code.

<jboy> on that note, what's the easiest way to get something like DrRacket's ^I (reindent code) in other editors? Is there a schemefmt program I could pipe code through?
lockywolf_ has quit [Read error: Connection reset by peer]
<jboy> oh, I see there's an scmindent.rkt here: https://github.com/ds26gte/scmindent
<J_Arcane> If you use Parinfer it can do it automatically
<J_Arcane> Depending which mode you're in
<jboy> is that an emacs thing?

<jcowan> lavaflow, euhmeuh: Exactly why I edit Lisp in `ex` (just like everything else except Scala) and switch to vi-mode just to bounce on the % key at the end of an edit
orivej has joined #racket
<lavaflow> I can't tell if you're pulling my leg. do you really use `ex` as your primary editor?

<bremner> it's a long shot, but any racketeers can recommend a JS unit test framework for people used to rackunit?
<bremner> "run screaming away" is not an option alas ;)
<endformationage> dustyweb: Your post re asking about the difference between syntax-parse and syntax-rules has cleared up much confusion of mine.

<endformationage> I wish the racket guide's Macro section would mention syntax-parse.

<nisstyre> dustyweb: I would be really curious to see how he uses Racket
<nisstyre> I know he did some server thing to interface with Oculus in it
<nisstyre> there's a video of him demoing it somewhere
<gonz_> Indeed
<gonz_> He also talked about making it a blessed language for people to make scripts for interaction
