The thing is, HTDP isn't a book about Racket as much as a book meant to teach program design to students.

Well, you can always take the path I took, which admittedly isn't the healthiest approach. But it worked out for me.

Skim the guide, jump right into writing a program.

You'll need to constantly look up things from the guide and the reference manual to fill the missing blocks in your head.

A significant downside is that sometimes you won't know a particular block is missing and try to fill it with what you know, resulting in hacky workarounds that have canonical solutions. SICP helped me with that.
