<MrSnookums> hello would you consider support gentoo with a ebuild? I tried writting one looking at your arch pkgbuild but without success my ebuild skills are somewhat limited...
<ifreund> MrSnookums: sorry, I don't use gentoo (and don't acutally use arch any more either)
<ifreund> if you have any specific questions/issues getting river to build I'd be happy to help though
<MrSnookums> Thank you, I will give it a go again and bother you with some logs :)

<ammen99> ifreund: hi, do you have any ETAs for river 0.1.0 ? Is the GH milestone correct?
<leon-p> ammen99: AFAIK river 0.1.0 is blocked by river-layout, which is blocked by me finding time...
<edrex> committed to only tracking wlroots releases? I guess tracking master would require updates to zig-wlroots as well so i can see not wanting to do that synchronously
<edrex> any tips for linking river to a different wlroots than system (I have master installed in /usr/local/lib)?
<edrex> at some point i'm going to switch from arch to nixos. Oh, I guess i could install river through nix..
<edrex> anybody in here a nix/nixos user?

<ifreund> ammen99: hey! yeah river 0.1.0 is blocked on the pending breaking changes to how layouts work and by wlroots 0.13.0
<ifreund> there's also a couple other breaking changes with regard to options but those are trivial to implement
<ifreund> curious, why do you ask?
<ifreund> edrex: I build and install libraries like wlroots t the ~/.local prefix and set my LD_LIBRARY_PATH, C_INCLUDE_PATH, and PKG_CONFIG_PATH accordingly
<ifreund> and MANPATH as well, since I also install river to ~/.local

<ifreund> edrex: as for tracking master branch, it seems like it would be a bit of a pain to manage with zig-wlroots as you point out.
<ifreund> I've cherry-picked some of the wlroots bug fixes on master that are relevant for river for my local wlroots build
<ifreund> ammen99: ah nice you have a #wayfire channel, I should totally start lurking there :P
