<paulproteus> Arguably jparyani_ should make a demo package of how to do that
<paulproteus> Or I should d
<paulproteus> Maybe I should just try that right now.
<paulproteus> Oh wait I'm on 2G wifi tethering in a car in Germany and I probably don't have the bandwidth to do it.

<dwrensha> zarvox, paulproteus: I'm vagrant-spk-ifying gitweb, and it's going great so far. :)
<dwrensha> I'm right now wondering what the easiest way is to import an existing app key...
<dwrensha> I guess I just append to the ~/.sandstorm/sandstorm-keyring file on the host.
<zarvox> dwrensha: hooray!
<zarvox> yeah, that's the easiest way. The reason vagrant-spk puts that inside a folder is because you can only share folders with the guest, not individual files, and I didn't want the guest to have access to all of $HOME just so it can get at your keyring.
<zarvox> IIRC sandstorm keyrings can be concatenated safely, so you can just "cat $HOME/.sandstorm-keyring >> $HOME/.sandstorm/sandstorm-keyring"
<dwrensha> cool
<dwrensha> ah, and `spk getkey` lets me pick out a single key.
<dwrensha> Yay, it all works. https://github.com/dwrensha/gitweb-sandstorm
<dwrensha> what I like best about this is that I no longer need to check in gitweb.cgi to the repo
<zarvox> woohoo!
<dwrensha> I just use the version that `apt-get install git` puts on the system
<zarvox> Yeah, the goal is to have the $GIT_DIR/.sandstorm folder be all about the delta between some published upstream and how it works under Sandstorm, which should hopefully make it less maintenance burden and easier to rebase when there are updates :)
<dwrensha> in this particular case, there are no changes that need to be upstreamed

<sapienTech> I am trying to hook up my sandstorm mediagoblin instance with an mediagoblin android client I am working on, so this would be really helpful

<dwrensha> it was easy!

<dwrensha> the biggest hitch was that Debian was hiding nginx in /usr/sbin/nginx, which is not in $PATH
<dwrensha> which was perplexing to me for a few minutes
<dwrensha> oh, and I first did `vagrant-spk wipe` when what I really wanted was `vagrant-spk destroy`
<paulproteus> Yeah please patch vagrant-spk to remove 'wipe'
<paulproteus> no one wants 'wipe' I don't know why we have it

<neynah> sapienTech: sorry, I'm not able to answer your questions but I'm sure one of our devs can whenever they get the chance.
<paulproteus> Oh hi sapienTech
<sapienTech> neynah: thanks for the update
<paulproteus> re: webfinger:
<sapienTech> hello paulproteus
<paulproteus> I _think_ the Sandstorm package may be incompatible with webfinger.
<sapienTech> yeah that is what i was thinking
<paulproteus> I don't know for sure, and you should look at the app list and check with the package maintainer, which if I recall correctly, it's jparyani.
<paulproteus> I _think_ it should be possible to make it work, fwiw, if the WebFinger client can send an "Authorization:" header.
<paulproteus> It might require a little bit of fiddling with things, so it might not work right now, but it's worth filing a bug.
<paulproteus> Going AFK a bit, but that is the story! I hope you do file a bug and find out, and then we can track it.
<sapienTech> paulproteus: thanks for the information, I IMed jparyani_ and if we don't come to a conclusion i will file a bug
<sapienTech> ive been using sandstorm for the last day and it is quite awesome. one thing i would like to learn more about is how sandcats.io routes requests to my server/the how the underlying processes to make sandstorm run. I couldn't find much documentation on this process. any references?
<ocdtrekkie> So when you install a Sandstorm app, does it now like look in
<ocdtrekkie> \ and \.sandstorm for the manifest and stuff?
<ocdtrekkie> Or does it look everywhere for it?
<ocdtrekkie> Does anyone want to invite me to keybase.io? I am going to start tidying things for figuring out how to update my apps.
<paulproteus> We should write a more user-oriented doc about this though.
<kentonv> ocdtrekkie: sure I'll send you an invite. Which email address?
<ocdtrekkie> kentonv: I am trying to make inbox@jacobweisz.com my formal email address because I can move it elsewhere.
<sapienTech> ah, cool. now if i wanted to use my own host name, is it the same process as hosting a website?
<kentonv> ocdtrekkie: sent
<sapienTech> one other thing: how might i change the storage location for my apps?
<sapienTech> sorry for all the questions
<ocdtrekkie> Thanks kentonv, working on it now.
