Hey, good sandstorm developers! Thanks for supporting GNU MediaGoblin on Sandstorm. 1) There is a much more recent release of MediaGoblin now. Could you please make that the default?
<yeehi>
Also, apparently it might be difficult to implement MG's future functionality: federation, as every application needs to be approved. Has anybody investigated this? You can raise the issue at #mediagoblin if you like
<yeehi>
There is a GNU MediaGoblin wiki page linking to Sandstorm's easy deployment, but it is flagged as being out of date and requiring update. If Sandstorm support a newer release of MG, if somebody could send an alert about the page: https://wiki.mediagoblin.org/EasyDeployment
<TimMc>
yeehi: I don't know anything about MG's federation, but federation is still a tricky problem in Sandstorm to begin with.

How hard is it to set up an app to publish to a domain? Like a blog would?
<ill_logic>
dang it, just found the link from the blog post
<ill_logic>
nm
<ill_logic>
Oh, it has to be static HTML? I can't just expose a chromeless version on my domain? I suppose I could just put a share link in a frame, getting rid of most of the chrome.
<ill_logic>
I bet people have asked for a "hide chrome" button.

TimMc - afaiu, federation is not yet implemented in GNU MediaGoblin.

<kentonv>
sandstorm alpha has been updated with the identity refactor!
<TimMc>
kentonv: Whoa, congrats!
<kentonv>
sure was a lot of work for very little visible difference. :)
<kentonv>
but things are a lot simpler now
<kentonv>
at least, for people who attach multiple credentials to their account
<simpson>
kentonv: Hi, while you're around: Is there a preferred citation for Cap'n Proto as a whole? Writing a paper.
<kentonv>
simpson: Hmm, dunno really. If you're looking to cite names, you could list just me, or me and David Renshaw.
<kentonv>
"et al", of course
<simpson>
Well, I was hoping for a chunk of BibTeX, and ideally a DOI to the paper introducing Capn, but of course we are engineers and I'm going to render the citation as a link to the Capn front page.
<kentonv>
there's no paper.
<kentonv>
and I don't know anything about rendering citations
<kentonv>
so your guess is as good as mine
<simpson>
Neither did I, two weeks ago. It's been a fun ride.
<simpson>
I'm *really* hoping that this gets in. I'm submitting to OCAP, which is object-capability programming language design workshop, and so this is a big chance to get Monte mindshare.
<simpson>
And also wear my "LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT OBJECT CAPABILITY SECURITY" shirt.
<kentonv>
testrock failed migration. Yay testing!
<kentonv>
apparently, shockingly, alpha (and my local test server) had zero instances of two users sharing a credential. Huh.
<isd>
simpson: could just link to capnproto.org. I have definitely seen just title/author/url in references sections before.
<isd>
I'm finally managing to actually block off some time to work on the Haskell capnp implementation.
