Hi
<bobon>
Thanks for the great software

I installed Sandstorm on a server of my own, installed Gogs, tried to clone and was asked a password, unfortunately I've got none (using Email auth method)

I tried searching for a solution but my Google skills must be rusted, couldn't find a firm answer, do I have to install an LDAP if I want to use Gogs with my Sandstorm installation ?
<xia0ben>
@kentonv : I am experiencing some problems trying to set up a sandstorm server on an internal server and making it accessible from another server that has a public IP address, through a VPN
<xia0ben>
I'm using the sandcats.io DNS+HTTPS service
<xia0ben>
But the thing is that it registers the internal IP address of the internal server
<xia0ben>
And I cannot seem to find a find to make it register the public IP address of my other server
<xia0ben>
I tried some workarounds, like exporting the BIND_IP global variable before installation, but to no avail
<xia0ben>
Also tried to change it from the sandstorm.conf
<xia0ben>
And restarting sandstorm
<xia0ben>
But no success here either
<xia0ben>
The only doc about using an internal server implies not using sandcats.io
<sknebel>
> But the thing is that it registers the internal IP address of the internal server <- if I understand how sandcats works correctly that shouldn't be possible. your sandcats.io subdomain really points to an internal IP address?
<sknebel>
xia0ben: ^
<sknebel>
sandcats points to whatever IP the update packets come from, so you should make sure to send traffic from the sandstorm host through the VPN as well
<xia0ben>
Hi Sknebel !
<xia0ben>
Thanks for your answer
<xia0ben>
Its not that I can't afford a standalone sandstorm instance
<xia0ben>
It is just that I was trying to migrate my existing instance
<xia0ben>
That is on a not so powerful webserver
<xia0ben>
To a physical computer @home
<xia0ben>
Which is much more powerful
<xia0ben>
And would have prefered to keep using my .sandcats.io domain
<xia0ben>
cost being one of the reasons
<xia0ben>
easy integration with Sandstorm being the other

Actually your proposition of buying the wildcard ssl cert would solve everything
<xia0ben>
And it made me remenber
<xia0ben>
that I should just be more patient
<xia0ben>
and wait for let's encrypt to support wildcard ssl
